I cant see him coming from Schalke without 100% guarantee that he's playing week in week out. FBs are those positions that you dont rotate. If you're fit you play. Nothing tactical about it.

If this comes off and Bianes had any sense he'd be looking around for another club. But then again he might be looking to get a coaching job at Everton so might hang around. Just what Everton need, another coaching post for one of the boys.

Baines won't go into coaching after he's finished mate, 100% on that.

Thing to note about kolasanic mate, this, season he's played 17 games as a left midfielder from stuff I checked, 10 as a left back (dunno schalkes formation so couldn't say if left mid covers wingback in a three at the back system though)

Spurs from memory rotated their fullbacks a good few times last season and did so as a pair as well with both changing.

If we are throwing that amount at a player he's obviously gonna start a lot of games, but with hopefully 60+ games over the season given a decent cup run and good progress in Europe, Baines will be needed hugely as well.

Players on a free or with 12 months left like Kolasinac would be the cover needed. Someone similair like a Zabaleta or Sagna (both free i believe and NW based) would leave us to spend our budget on Keane, Pickford and Gylfi. Add rooney to the equation then we are ready to go. Any news on Ghezzal and his contract stand off ?

If Lukaku does leave then we can take the £70m and reinvest say £50m in two £25m strikers, one proven from abroad and another who is on the rise. Andre Silva from Porto would be my choice if Lacazette was unavailable.

Get Mo on the phone to him.

Any players born in Germany and brought through the youth teams there gets my ;)

Either hes replaced or we sign a well thought of u21 player who will push him out over the season.
He's not really been a dominant first choice LB since the days he combined with Pienaar under Moyes. Under Martinez he struggled against Oviedo and then Galloway and even Garbutt got a look in (which is the real source of his agitation with the last manager). This season he's been given that place back by Koeman but if this deal comes off for the Schalke player then it's obvious Koeman realises an upgrade is indeed necessary.

He is getting on a bit. 31 is he?

2.9 tackles per game - joint 15th highest in Bundesliga
3.6 interceptions per game - joint 3rd highest in Bundesliga
5 assists so far this season - most for a defender in the Bunsesliga

Just call me Steve Walsh.

I confess that, though I watch a lot of Bundesliga football, this feller has passed me by a bit. I cant recall him registering with me at LB or further up the pitch.

Hoewedes is the stand out defender for them and i wish we were in for him, tbh. Can play LB too.

But yeah, Baines or Galloway will be sufficient to cover for any new signing.

I really think a good signing for us could be one of Pablo Zabaleta or Bacary Sagna. Older players, but experienced, won things. Both available for free. Both would be ideal to replace Coleman before he comes back in winter and I feel like they still have a season or two in them. It would allow Seamus to comeback slowly to get back into his old form.

And if we are somehow able to sign Sead Kolasinac (or at least Charlie Taylor) for free as well, we could then spend big on VVD, Keane and Pickford. That defence would be fantastic with competition for places. Then we hopefully sign Rooney for free, buy Sigurdsson and sign a striker (Defoe). And potentially sell McCarthy to buy another midfielder (Tielemans). Sell Deulofeu, RFM, Niasse too. If it is right that we have around 100m to spend, then it should be achiavable to stay under this amount of net spend. This would be an ideal summer for me.

Agree on zabaleta and sagna deffo worth signing given the Coleman lay off
