True.
For me, seeing Stones, Deulofeu, Lukaku and now Barkley depart has been pretty upsetting/disappointing as it seems like we've actually brought in all the 'supporting cast' and yet got rid of the stars.
The rumoured Giroud signing to me would feel like the Williams signing last season. We lose a 'potentially' world class player who could have been immense next to Keane and in front of Pickford and replace him with an ageing player who could deliver in the short term. Now, a year later we can see that we need a new centre back to play alongside Keane and in front of Pickford. If we had Stones it would be ideal.
Sigurdsson to replace 'boyhood blue' (as we all thought) Barkley just doesn't cut it for me either. He would have been ideal with Rooney in working in tandem with Barkley to support Lukaku...but we lost him as well. So now we have the players who could have done very well in supporting Barkley and Lukaku but they've gone.
The team now looks like we've covered every position which was lacking when we had those 4 players but we haven't really replaced them.
