Yep, to stymie Kenny's developement and sit on the bench for when Seamus returns....

Mate I want youngsters to break through , especially local ones . The reality is we are aiming to get top 6, we have spent millions trying to do it, Coleman has had a massive injury and his full recovery to his previous level is by no means guaranteed, and if he does he could have any number of set backs that could put him out for months longer. Putting that much expectation on coco and a player that has played under 5 1st team games isn't a good idea IMO.

At least we have got 5 in though, previous years we'd have 2 by now and be scrambling late on to get 3 more done.
Of course, I was referencing more for someone like Swansea. If they lose Iceland, they need to get replacements in and so on. I think they will have a deadline as well if it doesn't get done soon.

i dont think a fan who thinks our manager is world class should be pouring scorn on others who may have over rated Barkley (although i dont recall any ever calling him world class) ;)

pot kettle black in a glasshouse lobbing stones or something like that
Go check out the Barkley looking for a challenge page and I'll wait for your apology. Obviously you don't rate the manager but a lot of fans as well as football clubs rate him high enough.

Go clean your pots and kettles.

I believe Sigurdsson and Giroud are the players to take us to the next level ie break the top6

We'd be one of the most dangerous teams in the Prem from set-peices. With Sandro as a foul magnet, it would work very well.

I still want that headless chicken Lookman v2 ie Gray from Leicester to run the defence. We need one more pacey player.

..looks like he's got a problem that lad. You would hope his driving offence would've made him take a long hard look at himself, I dread to think what he'll be like when he's 50. Some footballers are poor professionals.

Maybe it's a case of "I get wrecked every weekend but still get payed £xk p/week so why stop".

Gylfi, Giroud and Lemos would be a nice trio to bring in with 2 of those going straight into the starting XI, 3 depending on how soon Lemos can settle in.

I think we would be in good shape for the season.

Agree with this, those 3 would round things off nicely. Always thought if you can field a good first 11 and a reasonable second 11 then that's enough to cope with competition demands and challenge for trophies.

Pickford
Coleman Keane Lemos Baines
Schneiderlin Klaassen Gueye
Sandro Giroud Sigurdsson

Robles
Martina Holagte Williams Mori
Basic Davies Barry
Mirallas Rooney Bolasie

Then you still have fringe players like Lookman, DLC. We should see some more outgoings.

Why is a Giroud move compromised if Sanchez goes? Like, its not like Arsenal wont try and replace him is it?

Asking for a friend

i thought lacazette was sanchez' replacement. Sanchez is their talisman, giroud is a bit part player and wenger sees him as sometimes 4th or 5th choice behind some truly awful players. So yeah, i don't see how they're linked really, but wenger does a lot of things i don't understand.

The problem is that that first team just consolidates what we had last season. Possibly actually a reduction in quality given the loss of Lukaku.

...a round up of rumours for this Sunday morning;

- According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are ramping up their search for a striker. They report this week could be make or break in respect of their chase for Olivier Giroud.

- The Daily Mail says West Ham's Winston Reid is the latest defender to be linked to Everton. The New Zealander recently extended his contract with the Hammers until 2021 but the Toffee's are considering a £9m bid.

- The Sunday Express suggests Ross Barkley is Pochettino's no1 summer target for Spurs and he could get the Everton midfielder for between £25m-£30m. The Mirror says Manchester City and Spurs are among 6 clubs interested in a cut-price deal for Barkley.

- Mirror reporter, John Richardson, says Watford manager Marco Silva is keen on Everton winger Aaron Lennon. Watford believe they can get the player for a relatively small fee because of his contract situation.

- 4th Official continue to link Everton and other clubs with Nice midfielder, Jean-Michael Seri. The same outlet suggest Burnley want Everton striker Oumar Niasse but Newcastle remain favourites to sign the player.

- According to The Mirror, Everton are hoping to finally clinch the signature of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea. The Toffee's are ready to throw 19 year old Calum Connolly into the mix to close the deal.

- The Daily Mail say Spurs have identified Everton's Phil Jagielka as somebody who can provide them with defensive cover. Spurs remain the only Premiership team to not sign a player in this transfer window.
Top work, sir. Above and beyond when you do this, on a weekend in particular.
