I do agree that Liverpool lacks depth, but they got some dynamic attacking players for sure.

I personally think Spurs will fall back a bit, I am not convinced Man U, despite their spending, is elite while Pogba is their focal point. Injuries obviously could make a difference.

they have about 5 good players who all play the same position. Their keeper is average, bog standard back 4 and a very meh set of centre mid options, and no out an out striker bar the one the manager doesn't like playing too much. It's hard to shoehorn all of those dynamic attacking players into one starting XI. Literally one or two injuries like the ones we have and they're screwed. Klopp's style of football won't stand up to a league and european campain with such little numbers, go past their best 12/13 players and you're into the kids already. We have about 23/23 players before going into the kids, and most of our kids are league champions/world champions or have played a fair few games in the prem already anyway.

We're not going to, are we? Being realistic you can't really expect us to break up the top 6 in our first real season of change and progress can you? Imo it's all about cementing that 7th place even more and moving closer towards the top 6. Next season we might be in a better position to break that glass ceiling, because all glass eventually breaks if the pressure is high enough;)

I want to be positive about next season but yer realistically your probably right, In the past we haven't managed to qualify for the Europa League whilst being in it so back to back qualifications would be progress, our best chance of CL qualification is definitely through Europa and I think the squad we are building has a really good chance at that.

Stop the press!

Be very happy with Sigurdsson, striker, and LB/CB. Would prefer a winger or someone with pace and more athleticism for another midfielder but you can't argue with Sigurdssons scoring and assist rate. He should be hungry and keen to prove himself after what was seen as a disappointing spell at Spurs. He would get us 10-12 goals.

Can't actually see us getting Giroud, it may depend on how willing Koeman is prepared to wait as I can't see how its in Arsenal's interest to sell him until the last week if at all until they are definitively sure that Sanchez will stay. Even then I'm not convinced that he wants to join us.

Can see us signing Slimani and I would see him as underwhelming as a replacement for Lukaku.

Be interesting to see who we get for the defensive signing, be happy for us to be a bit bold there and take a chance on Lemos.

That will represent a huge churn in the squad in 12 months and one that I did not see us pulling off at the end of May. Of course they will take time to gel and for RK to work out best formation and tactics but we would have genuine and decent depth, something we have not have for almost 30 years.

I have concerns about lack of pace and width as have many others but if we get another three in - then nobody - not least Koeman himself can't say he has not been supported to the hilt. In addition, with the sales of Barkley, and most likely Robles, and possibly some or all of McCarthy, Barry Besic, Niasse, and Lennon, we have scope to recoup another 50-60m. In short, we would have achieved a total squad transformation in 12 months with a pretty modest net outlay.

That leaves room to add another 2 signings over the next 12 months of the expense and quality that we would like to see, just to put the finishing touches to this particular phase of rebuilding the squad to Koeman's specifications. With the other younger players signed and the stewardship of Unsworth over the U-23s, I am cautiously optimistic.

Relative to the sides above us, we have noticably strengthened relative to Spurs and the RS, and I am not especially fearful of Arsenal. The Manchester clubs and Chelsea are in their own league regarding ability to pay huge transfer fees and attractiveness to players. But all else being equal, get another three players in and I think we've done bloody well. Well enough to at least be a nuisance to the top six and give them more of a run for their money, at least Spurs/Arsenal/Sh*te anyway.

jesus, i hope we don't sell all of them, we'd go from being overstocked in central midfielders to having no depth whatsoever. players like barry and lennon and to some extent besic are much more valuable to us than the meadly £2m or £3m we'd get for them. I understand people's concerns on lack of pace, but would people be saying the same if bolasie didn't have such a bad injury? We invested heavily in him and it's just bad fortune he got such an injury, same goes to seamus as well which contributed to more lack of pace.

But i think with bolasie coming back half way through the season, we need to see how he gets on first before splashing out another £20m or so on another pacey winger. If we did that we'd have that new player, bolasie, mirallas, onyekuru, sandro, lookman and lennon as pacey wing options. That's too much then.

Pretty much why I said "if he wasn't a div and crap"

And Mori is horrific in the air.
Got it.

Don't think Mori is "horrible" in the air, but yeah.

Mori already was a bit of a clutz. More knee problems aren't going to help.

Lemos is super talented, but he does okay on the edge a bit. Not that Mori didn't have his occasional rash tackle, though. But he's got serious skills. Lemons just seems rather boom or bust, but I'd take a shot at him for sure.
