UNITED IN FOR DENDONCKER?

Manchester United will have to pay up to £31m if they want to tempt Anderlecht to sell Leander Dendoncker, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Belgian scored against United in the quarter-final of the Europa League last season, and Anderlecht sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck has said they could sell Dendoncker for around £30m.

He told Het Belang van Limburg: “We want to cherish him, but if a club is willing to pay between €25m and €35m, we have a problem.”

Hmm they must really want a successor for Carrick I guess :p. He also complains to the referee a lot, one of Mourinho's favourite traits. Risky move though. Not sure what will happen now tbf.

Better to follow the Tielemans route. He was excellent yesterday against PSG. All the French newspapers etc were very positive. He was voted top-player. Mbappe was horrible -it happens young player.

Ratings France Football: Subasic 5, Touré 6, Glik 5, Jemerson 6, Kongolo 4, Sidibé 6, Fabinho 5, Tielemans 7, Lemar 6, Falcao 4, Mbappé 5

Easy assist though:

One of many good critiques:

"Les promesses de Tielemans
Amené à remplacer Tiémoué Bakayoko au milieu, Youri Tielemans s’est déjà bien fondu dans le collectif monégasque et en a fait la démonstration face au PSG. Au côté de Fabinho, la jeune recrue belge a parfaitement rempli son rôle en ratissant beaucoup de ballons tout en gardant le soin de les relancer proprement. Il est même à créditer d’une passe décisive remarquable pour Sidibé sur une ouverture limpide en première intention. Prometteur."

it'll be tough on one hand to get a really high finish because of how many changes we've made this summer, but on the other hand we'll have a really talented squad, much better and deeper than liverpool's for example, who will struggle with europe.

All the teams above us, you can look at potential weaknesses which may come into play, after what leicester did, nothing is nailed on in this league, so pointless saying "we won't finish any higher than 7th", just yet, because we never know how well it'd just click.

countinho is largely annonymous in games i've seen him, he doesn't run a game, every game out of 5 or so he'll score a great goal and that overshadows what he doesn't do. Just my opinion, but for a fee such as that i'd be wanting the real deal. Lukaku, for all his faults, his goalscoring stats are up there and surpass pretty much every striker of the last generation or two. United overpaid, but at least the get someone who was one of the best in the world over the last 20 years at what he does best.

Countinho? hmm, he's just your run of the mill flashy attacking mid that the press buzz over, but if he was english, the hype would be nowhere near this level.

Wasn´t so anonymus when he gave our defence the run around at Anfield last derby. Just saying.

Mate, our squad is not better than Liverpools. What are you smoking? I despise them as much as any blue but that just sounds deluded.

And as for finding weaknesses in the squads of the teams above us, while you can do that, all things being equal, you can find even larger weaknesses in ours. The lack of a replacement for Lukaku and close to no attacking pace (until Bolasie comes back) are obvious ones.

Can't see United signing him and Matic.

I do agree that Liverpool lacks depth, but they got some dynamic attacking players for sure.

I personally think Spurs will fall back a bit, I am not convinced Man U, despite their spending, is elite while Pogba is their focal point. Injuries obviously could make a difference.

Be very happy with Sigurdsson, striker, and LB/CB. Would prefer a winger or someone with pace and more athleticism for another midfielder but you can't argue with Sigurdssons scoring and assist rate. He should be hungry and keen to prove himself after what was seen as a disappointing spell at Spurs. He would get us 10-12 goals.

Can't actually see us getting Giroud, it may depend on how willing Koeman is prepared to wait as I can't see how its in Arsenal's interest to sell him until the last week if at all until they are definitively sure that Sanchez will stay. Even then I'm not convinced that he wants to join us.

Can see us signing Slimani and I would see him as underwhelming as a replacement for Lukaku.

Be interesting to see who we get for the defensive signing, be happy for us to be a bit bold there and take a chance on Lemos.

That will represent a huge churn in the squad in 12 months and one that I did not see us pulling off at the end of May. Of course they will take time to gel and for RK to work out best formation and tactics but we would have genuine and decent depth, something we have not have for almost 30 years.

I have concerns about lack of pace and width as have many others but if we get another three in - then nobody - not least Koeman himself can't say he has not been supported to the hilt. In addition, with the sales of Barkley, and most likely Robles, and possibly some or all of McCarthy, Barry Besic, Niasse, and Lennon, we have scope to recoup another 50-60m. In short, we would have achieved a total squad transformation in 12 months with a pretty modest net outlay.

That leaves room to add another 2 signings over the next 12 months of the expense and quality that we would like to see, just to put the finishing touches to this particular phase of rebuilding the squad to Koeman's specifications. With the other younger players signed and the stewardship of Unsworth over the U-23s, I am cautiously optimistic.

Relative to the sides above us, we have noticably strengthened relative to Spurs and the RS, and I am not especially fearful of Arsenal. The Manchester clubs and Chelsea are in their own league regarding ability to pay huge transfer fees and attractiveness to players. But all else being equal, get another three players in and I think we've done bloody well. Well enough to at least be a nuisance to the top six and give them more of a run for their money, at least Spurs/Arsenal/Sh*te anyway.
