Summer Transfer Window 2017

We're not going to, are we? Being realistic you can't really expect us to break up the top 6 in our first real season of change and progress can you? Imo it's all about cementing that 7th place even more and moving closer towards the top 6. Next season we might be in a better position to break that glass ceiling, because all glass eventually breaks if the pressure is high enough;)

Will we be able to attract the players to help do that though?

Seventh won't be a success this season. Not at all. I'm basing this on us signing Sigurdsson and a quality striker by the way.
You have to consider the following

1. Mass change in the team and squad at the same time

2. Sandro has to adapt to the league

3. Young players having their first full season

4. Teams above us bar the kopites improving

All things considered our main aim this summer was to rebuild the squad for groundwork for the future. In pickford, Keane, klassen and sandro we have done that in s young spine who will need a year to bed in. Our main aim this season has to be the cups and perhaps guaranteed Europe again as a bonus

Even at those prices, I'd still have him over Williams. But better still add another 10m and put a bid in for Gibson and we have our centre half pairing for the next 5 years

I'd rather one of the academy lads play. At least they won't spend half a season on the sidelines like Reid

...knowing that Steve Walsh is a stats man makes me think the numbers add up (interceptions, blocks etc) if the interest is genuine. At 21 there is something to work on and I get the comparison with Van Dijk.
Definitely. He clearly likes to step up, interecept the ball, and move it upfield. Very much like VVD, just doesn't have the height and aerial presence. I think it could be a great pairing with Keane, but he's still a bit raw, rash. But the talent is there. The kid is aggressive, tough, but incredibly skilled. He just seems like a Koeman player.

Tbh this season for me is all about trying to win a trophy or two and at least staying top 7 and putting up a better challenge for top 6

Can't really see us breaking into the top 6 this season unless someone above us have an off season and definitely won't be getting anywhere near top 4

I know this will massively divide opinion and I'm aware of the negatives but surely getting in Nasri for a nominal fee or a loan to play behind a strainer would be more cost effective and could even be a better option than Gylfi?

Isn't he potentially facing a ban ? Also I think he's another with the potential to disrupt a dressing room and for what he brings on the pitch he's not worth that risk .

Id stick with Williams he's not as erratic and is better in the air but not a lot between them other than that. Gibson looks a non starter given the lack of talk.

Fantastic footballer but he's a bit nuts. Even last season he was in trouble and city certainly aren't losing sleep about letting him go so that in itself offers a warning in my view

I guess I just don't get what some of you see in Gibson. He seems fine, solid, but he's not really a great aerial presence, he's not particularly quick or strong, his foot skills aren't particularly amazing. He's a solid CB I guess, but I don't think he's good enough for Everton. Not really sure he's better than Williams, although I like that he can play LB a bit.

Totally agree.

Makes me think that some blues are over-valuing Barkley slightly, too.

countinho is largely annonymous in games i've seen him, he doesn't run a game, every game out of 5 or so he'll score a great goal and that overshadows what he doesn't do. Just my opinion, but for a fee such as that i'd be wanting the real deal. Lukaku, for all his faults, his goalscoring stats are up there and surpass pretty much every striker of the last generation or two. United overpaid, but at least the get someone who was one of the best in the world over the last 20 years at what he does best.

Countinho? hmm, he's just your run of the mill flashy attacking mid that the press buzz over, but if he was english, the hype would be nowhere near this level.

I'm not so much concerned with the fact that we haven't signed a striker yet, there are loads of weeks left after all, but more concerned that there really isn't a huge selection to choose from that are going to help us get where we want

Benteke.

Gut feeling is we won't get a winger and Koeman will give that slot to Lookman and DCL. He has Mirallas and Bolasie to come back and we also have Lennon still and he knows he can play various others wide who will cut in if he has to.
Yeah. A winger is probably the least likely. I just thought we were crying out for a winger to run at the full back the other night. Seamus coming back (hopefully) gives us that threat too. Not sure on DCL in that position. Obviously getting game time but not sure what he brings out wide.
