Apparently we are favourite to sign Vincent Kompany? I presume this is some sort of joke.

Its in the mirror so I won't link it
We are slowly getting rid of the remanents of the Martinez era who spent more time off the pitch than on it. Kompany WAS a great player but sadly a succession of injuries have shortened his career. Can't see any club offering him a contract based on that.

Come again?!....

Up until Lukaku's goal, where Keane did get the marking all wrong, he was brilliant!

He got it wrong when it needed to be right.

I think he's okay. I'd prefer blooding youngsters (Holgate, Pennington, Galloway) if we're going to spend a large sum of money of him though.

Think we need to spend big on an established centre half in his prime to be honest.

As much as I like your optimism with regard to our youth, there is no mistaking that Michael Keane would seriously improve our defence. You only had to look at the lads international debut away in Germany to see that.

I don't judge a player based on what they do for England (especially against Germany's B team that aren't bothered about friendlies).

To me we've got Williams who isn't at a level I like and has 1 or 2 more seasons. Jagielka is now a back up. Fune Mori will be sold more than likely. Keane is still learning so he has mistakes. Williams makes people panic.

I'd want us to rather spend £20mill+ on a Van Dijk-type player (we won't get him). Someone in his late 20's, dominates the role. No need to worry about him or wait for him to "improve".

Ok you don't judge on friendly international appearances, but we'll agree to differ on this one. Michael Keane would enhance our defence I've no doubt and a number of other top clubs according to the pundits. That is why the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, city and ourselves have been linked with the lad.

Not saying he wouldn't enhance it, I just don't think it'll be to a next level unless we get a more experienced centre half next to him.

Additionally, him and Ben Mee are a good partnership that compliment each other. That can mask a lot especially if you're spending a lot of money on just one of them.

And Van Dijk is the more sort after centre half for those clubs than Keane is.
