Has anyone else's pre-season optimism being completely drained by the signing and 1st performance of Cuco Martina? I mean "the new Ev" etc - is it really? Why him?
Spurs showed the way by having 2 top-class full backs in each position. We have 1 top-class right back who is injured until 2018, a fading (yet legendary) left back, and a few promising kids. Surely it was the opportunity to bring in quality here? But Cuco Martina... really? all that net spend talk... makes me think we are holding on on Sigurdsson until we get Barkley money.

He played well last week considering he had only trained with the team for just over a week. Promising start for Martina

No mate, im still excited to see what Sandro can do, looking forward to Davy Klaassen smashing in 1 Street End, wondering what it will feel like when Rooney scores his first goal at Goodison, watching the boys Pickford and Keane grow into superb footballers and of course hoping that we smash the vermin horde home and away.

New Ev, same as the old Ev, hopes and dreams.

Thing is he's pure entertainment. I like Dave and i've said before I really hope he is genuine because he argues everything so passionately and if he ever turned out to be just some wum (and I’m not accusing him of being one before someone cards me for it) then given the amount of time and effort it puts in, I’d be kind of sad. I think he genuinely cares but just has a very different opinion to most of us.. but ok, as our golden haired Dutch king would say… that’s what forums are for.
Agreed mate, I see Davek as the unltimate Devil's advocate, whose sole, purpose is to prevent us all becoming too smug and self-satisfied. He should also be applauded for his work on improving the general health of the regular forum readers, as most of his posts generate the nearest thing most of us ever get to a cardio workout! :)

By the way, i have just formally adopted your description of the shagite and will use it exclusively from this point onward. Never have they been so eloquently summed up! Well done sir!

You need to get out more. Nothing entertaining at this stage

I really hope we keep Connolly.

Money may now be meaningless in English football, but the problem with moves like this is that even if someone like Sigurdsson is the perfect and only player for what Koeman wants to do, they can easily become millstones the instant the manager leaves and gets replaced.

Emre mor 12 million. Cheaper alternative to gray? The pace we need?

I know nothing about him but acceleration 89 on Fifa and sprint 81

Position Apps Goals Assists Rating
Sub (Substitute) 11 1 0 6.39
FWR (Forward Right) 1 0 1 7.98
AMR (Attacking Midfielder Right) 1 0 1 7.55
MR (Midfielder Right) 1 0 0 7.51
AMC (Attacking Midfielder Centre) 1 0 1 7.31
FWL (Forward Left) 1 0 0 6.72
AML (Attacking Midfielder Left) 1 0 0 6.13

He plays where he wants.

Watched quite a bit of Dortmund last year due to Pulisic. Mor didn't play much but when he did he was decent. If he's leaving for a chance to play, surely we'd be at the top of the list, assuming it's England he wants.
