Can't answer for Dave, but in my opinion other teams spending becomes kind of irrelevant when you spend those sort of sums yourself. It's one thing saying we couldn't compete when we were spending £2m and others were spending £60m, but if we're spending in excess of £100m ourselves there's an expectation that our buys will be better value than those of our competitors, and that they will have better coaching and game plans - that's where the manager and DoF earn their corn.What about the other clubs spending even more? I suppose Spurs aren't but they were miles ahead to begin with. Does other clubs spending not count?
