Summer Transfer Window 2017

What about the other clubs spending even more? I suppose Spurs aren't but they were miles ahead to begin with. Does other clubs spending not count?
Can't answer for Dave, but in my opinion other teams spending becomes kind of irrelevant when you spend those sort of sums yourself. It's one thing saying we couldn't compete when we were spending £2m and others were spending £60m, but if we're spending in excess of £100m ourselves there's an expectation that our buys will be better value than those of our competitors, and that they will have better coaching and game plans - that's where the manager and DoF earn their corn.

His predecessor did more with a lot less cash than this feller.

If he's going to spend £150M this summer there isn't anyone going to be offering him tea and sympathy if we finish 6th or 7th. That is not going to happen when the two previous managers secured better whilst spending the grand total of about 10 bob.

He's had his big spend. Now he needs to get the results.

Personally I dont see him doing it.

What, £12.5m on Niasse off a YouTube reel and fake Player of the Year award?

All good points. It just needs to be said that the teams in front of us aren't exactly standing still. They're spending on improvements too. We just have more room to improve and should be doing so.

I thought Koeman doesnt have any say in how much money is spent? I thought it works like: Koeman wants CB -> Steve Walsh creates a shortlist -> the board start negotiating
I don't see how Koeman can be the one at blame for the prices we've paid... He's the manager of the team, not the head of the corporate entity.

It's gone to Davek, close enough though
Thing is he's pure entertainment. I like Dave and i've said before I really hope he is genuine because he argues everything so passionately and if he ever turned out to be just some wum (and I’m not accusing him of being one before someone cards me for it) then given the amount of time and effort it puts in, I’d be kind of sad. I think he genuinely cares but just has a very different opinion to most of us.. but ok, as our golden haired Dutch king would say… that’s what forums are for.

It's fun to be an Evertonian these days - the heady days of Moshiri and his money trees. Everton have spent some serious cheddar this window - more than ever and it's real fun to watch and even more fun to wax optimistic. If the window closed today, I'm still over the moon. Is this Everton team better? I think so, very much so. Let's not act the nouveau riche that we are and expect Daddy Moshiri to wrap us all in gold leaf and see through every rumored deal. Patience, my friends. With Dowell off on loan and Connolly possibly being tossed in to seal the Gylfi saga, Koeman and Walsh already have their core in place. They've done us well so far this summer, both in the first team and the U-23's. Patience, my friends.

Has anyone else's pre-season optimism being completely drained by the signing and 1st performance of Cuco Martina? I mean "the new Ev" etc - is it really? Why him?
Spurs showed the way by having 2 top-class full backs in each position. We have 1 top-class right back who is injured until 2018, a fading (yet legendary) left back, and a few promising kids. Surely it was the opportunity to bring in quality here? But Cuco Martina... really? all that net spend talk... makes me think we are holding on on Sigurdsson until we get Barkley money.
