With Ajax knocked out, surely we go after Dolberg right?
That lot were 90 minutes away from the CL.

Another reason to take the extra place off winning that tournament.

The extra spot should go to the team finishing just outside the official CL spots in the big 5 European leagues. Rotate that every year.

A fifth place team entering the Champions League would be more of a joke than 4-time winning Ajax being in it through winning the Europa League.

Sandro won't play wide much for us

Sandro needs to be partnered with a player who sticks in the box imo.

Sandro starts central, but the majority of his runs take him wide. The other night, that left nobody in the area as Rooney was having to drop deep to be the playmaker.

Gylfi, to an extent, solves that issue, but we then need another alternative to Rooney, and a player that allows us a different style of play. Giroud would provide both of those options.

Rather have Jason Derulo mate hahhahahah oh no my PTSD is kicking in again and I'm crying on the train

If Giroud falls through who else are we looking at (surely we have not placed all eggs in that one basket). We know Big Ron wants a target type fellow.

I think there have been rumours of Benteke, Willian Jose, Dzeko, Slimani, Dost. Any others? Do we deem any of these likelier than others?

Seems that IF Ross and McCarthy are sold and Gylfi bought that we could realistically spend. Combined 50m on our striker and left sided defender.... say 15m on a defender and the up to 35m on the striker so most of those above could be feasible for a price standpoint.

I think rumors of Giroud's demise are somewhat exaggerated. It was one paragraph from a french newspaper, which speculated he was content. While its possible, everyone has run with a pretty much non story so far, that seems to be just based off of Dortmund cooling interest. I expect if we do go after him, we have told Arsenal and him we need an answer in the next week or we will move on.

Benteke is the one who's been mentioned more than others lately and would probably be most expensive. Willian Jose was the name most mentioned at end of last season. Nicolai Jorgensen had a couple of weeks where he got a few mentions

Think Giroud is obviously 1st choice, but could be anyone after that

Rooney if fit plays mate,he has not come here to be on the Bench.
I think that you are probably right and that is why I didn't want him here. Out of Sandro, Sigurdsson and Giroud (or some other target man) who gets dropped to accomodate Rooney? I'm personally not sure how all the pieces are going to fit together. Better to have the problem of too many players than too few but no one should be guaranteed a starting role and that is my worry.

I think Sandro will start a c/f with rooney off him,my worry is a total lack of pace.

Then why sign Gylfi (assuming we do)? Many of his assists are aerial, can't see Sandro or Rooney really benefitting from that but also can't see Gylfi, Rooney, Sandro and a Giroud-type all playing in a the same team. Maybe it'll be different systems for different games (but that would require Rooney to be dropped periodically which brings me back to my original concern). I'm worried about pace as well, Sandro is reasonably zippy but not much beyond that.
