yeah, and mcgeady going and dowell out on loan adds to that too. I just think that if bolasie wasn't injured we wouldn't be so up in arms about it, which is a bit silly because if he got the injury the day after the window closes people shouldn't be saying "argh, we should have bough another winger just in case".
The way i see it, we spent £36m on bolasie and lookman, we still already have mirallas and well, our preferred formations are not going to include playing two wingers, one at most. Wouldn't have sent dowell out on loan myself after his pre-season but his opportunities would have been limited.
I understand some of the concerns about lack of pace, but we're obviously targetting a gameplan where pace is something of a plan b near the end of games. We can't splash out £20m on a winger and then head into next summer with the new winger, bolasie, lookman, mirallas, dowell, onyekuru, sandro (to an extent) and lennon (if he only goes out on loan) when we play with 3 narrow attacking mids like siggurdsson, klaassen and rooney behind the striker.
