- Sky Sports report Ronald Koeman's after match comments yesterday when he said Everton are very close to tying up the transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea. Koeman also said; "Everybody knows we are looking for 3 more players. A left centre back, a left back who can play out of the two positions a winger and a striker".

- The Daily Mirror link Everton with Barcelona outcast Thomas Vermaelen. West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford have also expressed an interest in the defender.

- The Mirror and 4th Official also suggest £30m Arsenal forward, Danny Welbeck, is a target for Everton.

- 4th Official continue to report West Brom interest in veteran Everton midfielder, Gareth Barry.

- According to The Chronicle, Everton are monitoring the progress of young Newcastle goalkeeper, Freddie Woodman, who starred alongside a number of Toffee's players in the recent U20 World Cup success.

- The Daily Mail says Ademola Lookman continues to be a loan target for Derby County.

as for the zlatan shout, brilliant. We desperately need a target man now for the start of the season ... so you want to buy one that we'll wait a year until he can actually play.

Where did I say I believed the Welbeck reports? If you read my post entirely, rather than skipping over the longer words that frighten you, you'd understand that my incredulity was directed at others in the thread who were reacting as if it was a good idea.

In similar vein, the suggestion of signing an injured 35 year old was one I put forward as PREFERABLE to paying a transfer fee for Welbeck - clearly illustrated by the use of the phrase "I would rather" as the preamble to the suggestion itself. That does not mean I think it is the BEST option available.... but it is a better option than signing Welbeck.

Plus Dembele is out injured until September . Griffiths scored two again though so if we're looking at strikers scoring in Scotland as a signing criteria...

Sigy looks close but it's looking increasingly unlikely we'll get Giroud. Now 1/3 to stay put. Hope SW has a credible alternative lined up.
