...Mundo Deportivo believe Everton's interest in Thomas Vermaelen is real and not the product of somebody's imagination. In today's edition, the Catalan newspaper say Everton met with the players agent yesterday. It is thought Everton are after assurances about the players fitness ahead of any move.

A loan move could appeal. The player spent last season on loan at AS Roma but spent a large chunk of the campaign out injured so the Italian club did not take up the option of making the deal permanent. Apparently the player is currently injured.

Definitely getting twitchy now - thought we'd have nailed the #9 problem and Sigurdsson a long time ago, leaving us the opportunity to go hard for a left sided defender and maybe one late bargain (winger/creator). Plus get a decent price for Barkley, and maybe McCarthy.

If we're heading towards Vermaelen and Deeney then we definitely won't be worrying the top 6. Hopefully that's nonsense.

We've got a massive opportunity to use the Lukaku/Barkley sales to fund a spree well within the confines of FFP but we're running the risk of totally squandering it. We've heard Moshiri talk about the 'window of opportunity' this summer and without bringing in 3 quality players needed to bridge the gap we may not get a better chance.

Hopefully we're just waiting to make our moves and all will come good - there are 3 weeks left after all - but it's a massive 3 weeks on and off the pitch. And the concern is that we haven't nailed the ends of windows at all for Koeman yet.

If we sign him, management need sacking if this is true.
