Summer Transfer Window 2017

Just throw £25-30m at Juve for Mandzukic, offer him £125k+ a week, 3 year deal and whatever else he needs. Get it done, don't worry about whether we'll get a return on it as a transfer (we won't)

We need a star target man to lead the line. He's the one, go out and get him and then finish the Sigurdsson deal. Then get Hoedt or Ben Gibson at LCB.

Please no Ben Gibson. Like Hoedt's potential.

Or Willian Jose if you want to go younger. He's pretty talented.

Because the under 23's already have plenty of players full of potential. It's getting to the point where there won't be enough opportunities for them to play. We need quality over quantity.
One of our DoFs remits is clearly to identify and sign talented young players who are a step away from first team football, and give them to Unsworth to develop. Something he seems doing successfully and largely unnoticed. We are investing as heavily in our future as well as our present. Which is surely a good thing.?

Gibson's at the same level (or just below) Michael Keane. He knows the league, he can play in various systems, his injury record is superb and he can play left back too at a push. Best player / only player for Boro last season. Would slot straight in. Any particular reason you don't like him?

Just think he's limited. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one that declares everyone crap or great. But he's not particularly pacey, nor is he great in the air. He's fine. I just don't see the upside. He doesn't strike me as particularly athletic. His foot skills are fine, okay distribution. He just does nothing outstanding. I like that he's aggressive and tough.

Keane is much better in the air, seems more athletic, and obviously has the length to be one of the best CB in England.

Just don't see Gibson having that kind of upside. I can kind of see how he could be more of the ball winner in front of Keane, but not sure he's better than Williams, nor do I envision him ever going to be.

...it might be big kick off Saturday but there's still the best part of 3 weeks of the transfer window left. Here's this morning's gossip;

- Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, said Everton target Olivier Giroud was given the opportunity to leave but decided he wanted to stay with the Gunners.

- Toffeeweb report Leandro Rodriguez's frustrating spell at Everton is over after the forward moved to Uruguayan club Danubian FC on a free transfer.

- According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Everton are keen on Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic. It's understood the player wants to leave but has a preference for AC Milan. 4th Official also go with the story. Italian journalist, Gianluca di Marzio says Everton are about to launch a £22.7m bid.

- Dutch outlet, Soccernews.NL, reports Everton are in talks to snap up 29 year old Brugge captain Ruud Vormer. The central midfielder has already played in 2 Champions League qualifiers this season.

Having some bacon with my eggs this morning.

Not really tried and trusted though, would be a punt, realistically.
Yeah, that's the issue. Younger, talented, is he much different in that way than Sandro? Stylistically, he's way different. Great in the air, tough, big, physical. I could really see him putting it together in a year or so and becoming a truly elite player. However, we probably want a more finished product like Dzeko, Bost, Giroud, Benteke. Just not sure how feasible getting any of them would be.

You'd think one of Welbeck or Giroud makes sense, though. When Sanchez comes back, someone is going to the bench.

Honestly, he concerns me. Good link up play, skills are good, tricky with the ball, but is he a clinical finisher? Is he strong and tough enough to score with his head in the EPL? Is he lady enough to get behind a high line? Italy is a good league, but England is way more physical. It would be an adjustment for sure.

it does makes sense in a lot of ways. If we could sign Siggy, there would be some similarities to the way Fiorentina play with the bunch of outstanding center miss they have there.

Not sure he's a better alternative than some of the others floated around. HOWEVRR, if spending 25M on him allows us to get a legit ball playing CB as an alternative to Williams (like Lemos), maybe it's worth it.

It's a good thing but there has to be a balance. Our first team needs investment far more than the youth team does. We were already producing good players before we started spending millions on young players like we have done this season. I think the first team has to be the priority now. What looked like a great transfer window early on has left us with a first 11 which is probably weaker than it was last season at present.
