Wouldn't jump on the whole why didn't we sign Steve mounie bandwagon, but it does bring into question what the hell SW is actually doing? Thought his whole M.O was that type of signing, and Gana aside, I don't think any of our signings so far are beyond the knowledge of anyone whose played Fifa.

After yesterday's game. I'm well worried about the striking position. How that number 9 position was not priority and one of our first signings seems odd considering how integral it seems to Koeman's system.

Poor show by SW I'd say. Not convinced by him at all like. Well as much as fan can judge.

Walsh's job isn't necessarily to get the cheapest player possible and uncover the players you've never really heard of. His job is to recruit the best possible player for the role we need. Sometimes they'll be cheap - like Gueye and Sandro, sometimes the player he thinks will fit best will be expensive - see the pursuit of Sigurdsson.

Also the negotiations on money aren't part of Walsh's role. It's still Kenwright (supposedly assisted by Ryzantzev and Moshiri) who is responsible for this side of things.

The way to judge Walsh would be more if his signings don't work out. Him recommending Belfodil in January certainly raised my eyebrow

Gana and Sandro are the two that spring to mind. I suspect he's been more involved with the youngsters though, Bowler, Gibson, Onyekuru and the like. As far as first teamers go I suspect he crunched the numbers on Keane and Pickford to confirm they were the best targets too.

Know what you mean though, looks like Sigurdsson will come in which leaves us to sign a CB and a main striker, and if we sign two very well knowns it begs the question of how much he's doing as there's been very few left-field picks as of yet.

I agree to an extent but let's not forget all the youngsters that have been brought in also. If 1 or even 2 of those go on to become established first team players then we have done very well.

...rumour round-up for Sunday morning;

- The Express says Spurs are confident they can tie up a deal for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley before the end of this transfer window. The Daily Mail report Tottenham will withdraw their interest in Barkley if they are successful in their attempt to sign Papa Cheikh Diop and Davinson Sanchez.

- According to The Mirror, Everton will finally seal the signature of Swansea midfielder, Gylfi Sigurdsson this week. The transfer will trigger a £20m move of Nacer Chadlie from West Brom to Swansea. The Express report Everton and Swansea will talk again in the next few days to finally conclude negotiations. The Daily Mail also suggests the deal 'is not far away'.

- 4th Official suggest Everton are eyeing Belgian youth sensation, Noah Fadiga. The 17 year old attacking midfielder currently plays for Brugge.

- Calciomercato report Everton are on stand by in their pursuit of Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic but it's known that the player prefers a move to Milan. Apparently Milan are also keen on the player.
