Summer Transfer Window 2017

....with 9 days and 16 hours of the window left, the transfer rumour columns continue to look a bit sparse this Tuesday morning;

- Speaking to Sky Sports, Ronald Koeman said he hopes Everton's transfer business isn't done because he would still like a left sided defender who can also provide cover at LB and a CF, despite the fine form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

- According to the Telegraph, Spurs are finally preparing a bid believed to be £20m plus £8m in add-ons for Everton midfielder, Ross Barkley. Tottenham and Chelsea lead the hunt, the Telegraph suggest Chelsea could offer the player £100k per week. The Express say Chelsea could hijack Tottenham's Barkley pursuit.

- Soccer America Daily is reporting USA U16 goalkeeper, Nicolas Defreitas-Hansen, has joined Everton's academy programme from Florida's Weston FC. The club has a growing reputation for producing young international keepers.

- Royal Blue Mersey pick up on the report that Everton are one of 7 clubs interested in Arsenal striker, Lucas Perez.

- The Daily Mail says Everton outcast, Oumar Niasse, is in talks over a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce.

- Turin newspaper Tuttosport report Everton have joined Stoke and West Ham in enquiring about Juventus midfielder, Stefano Sturaro.
Barkley for 20m when Chris Wood goes for 15m. Laughable

Did you seriously just use the term Orientals? And yes indeed that not only makes you a racist, but a complete a-hold that should find another club to play for.

Someone else, please.
I don't often post here and enjoy a read but I must correct this. Oriental is latin for East and Occidental is the opposite term (often found on restaurant menus) and is latin for West. Both terms have fallen out of modern language they aren't surely racist just because they have fallen out of use?

It's considered an ethnic slur these days mate

As Wikipedia says

Oriental
(Predominantly U.S., used elsewhere) Refers to an East Asian person (of the Orient) and/or their ethnicity; sometimes considered offensive.[41][42][43] In 2016, US President Barack Obama signed a bill to remove the term "Oriental", together with some others, as a reference to a person from federal laws.[44]

It's not widely known as one to be fair to you. I'm sure you weren't intending to offend. Easy mistake to make

By and of itself? Not by anybody with an ounce of common sense.

Oriental food?
Oriental art?
The Orient Express?
Leyton Orient?
"Hello Mr. travel agent, I'd like to book a holiday please."
"Where do you have in mind?"
"Not sure, somewhere Oriental maybe?"

Nothing remotely offensive about any of the above. It's a crying shame that people feel the need to get outraged about everything these days, particularly in an instance such as this where it's based on nothing more than a lack of understanding of the definition of a word.

PS: No to Vardy. One-season wonder.

You are referring to objects not people. Coloured isn't an offensive term on its own. Calling someone a coloured person is. Stop fighting for your desire to use racist terms

I don't make the rules mate, but when the president of the USA tries to outlaw a word, it probably isn't best to use it

You clearly didn't know about the connotations it carries. That's understandable and people probably shouldn't have jumped on you for it because it's made you double down and get defensive, but this is a word you shouldn't say and it might get you into bother with the mods

Probably best just to hold your hands up on this one, otherwise I can see the easily offended not letting it go. It's not a battle you're going to win

Anyway, transfers. I have no idea where we're getting this striker from

Someone called me British the other day. I mean it's true and all that, but I got so angry and simply had to deem it a racial slur because the person who said it wasn't British. Complained to my boss who laughed in my face and gave me a verbal warning, which I guess was also racist. Everything is racist!

It doesn't carry those connotations. It has a clear, longstanding definition as an adjective relating to a geographic area.
No president of the USA can outlaw the use of a word in Britain.
No-one jumped on me.
I have seen no evidence that the mods share your warped view.
You're just being a bit silly, aren't you.

Agree re the striker though.

Oh. You're trying to be clever. It's a false equivalence and if you don't know that you're not very bright. Stop getting annoyed you can't use racist terms.
