Did we and West ham not appeal and get reds chalked off when cole and Gibson got second yellows a few years back?

Most of the transfers completed by us this summer were all well signposted.
Sigurdsson, Rooney, Pickford, Klaasen, Sandro and Keane were all well reported before they actually happened.
I expect that the striker signing may be similar and the absence of any credible new names leads me to believe the chase for Giroud may not be totally dead just yet.

I think either Giroud or Welbeck will leave this summer.

The manager said last night we need more spending if we are serious about challenging. But what is he seeing as the challenge that needs to be met? I've not heard of a commitment to any season objective yet, so if you were the board and he came asking for more cash to take the spending up to probably £170m minimum you'd want something to measure cost/benefit with.

4th...man city, man utd and chelsea are a level above us

but we should be competing for 4th with liverpool, spurs and arsenal...if we dont finish 4th but arent far behind then that would be acceptable
