Lol. No. Not peanuts though is it when you outspend all but three other teams.

Net spend for owners, gross spend for a manager receiving the proceeds from the greatest sale of family jewellery in the club's history.

This is record breaking spending.

If he gets more cash on top - and we hope a good striker and defender is now brought in - then a definite CL spot objective has to be set.

You will ignore and can't answer on this. Do you think we start out with the same level of squad quality with the three other teams you mentioned? You rate the like in Stones and McCarthy lol.

Maybe we should have signed that Woods lad that Burnley just got from Leeds? He looks quite tall

@Mikey_Fitzgerald Chris Wood is woeful mate, has had one decent season in the Championship, Leeds fans do not like him whatsoever, plus there is a quote from Janssen the center back who really told him what the team thought of him on twitter (plenty of C Bombs were used).

Leeds fans were hoping that some premier league team were going to come in and offer stupid money for him, and Burnley did, he is as they say "turbo gash"

We surely need to wait and see what his net spend is come Sept 1st before setting any objectives, as if it's negligible then how can you expect to see a higher bar set than last season?.........as surely we'd be just be treading water............

Or are you going to ignore that, until you want to take a swipe at Moshiri as per?
Keep kidding yourself that you can submerge one issue into the other and allow this manager a situation where failure to compete for CL spots or win a trophy is acceptable after spending over three times as much in one summer as anytime before.

It isn't it.

Apparently it doesn't matter how much we spend....which begs the question WTF is all the excitement about signing players all about then?

Not sure - it seems like the goalposts are being moved a bit.

Last night I thought we did really well, goal was a bit unlucky but broadly speaking did fine (we were decent against them 11 vs 11). But enough money has been spent now that we should be regularly competing against clubs at that level.

Actually that's a really good point to be fair

It's not because the other three teams Dave has mentioned had far better quality players than a team which finished 11th two times in a row. They started off (two seasons ago) with far superior squads while we need an overhaul.

City though, we always do well against them....and 1-1 against 10 men isn't even achieving that.

Terrible result last night all things considered.

Being a cautious chap, I would wait until the end of the window, see how much the clubs who finished above us last season have spent, then make an honest assessment on whether we can close the gap on them.

For instance, at present, there is little evidence that we can close the gap on City or United with them both having spuffed oodles of dosh and taken our main goal threat from us.

I have no agenda though, so maybe that is too balanced for some.

Fair enough mate

Never even heard him of him until Burnley signed him
