The manager said last night we need more spending if we are serious about challenging. But what is he seeing as the challenge that needs to be met? I've not heard of a commitment to any season objective yet, so if you were the board and he came asking for more cash to take the spending up to probably £170m minimum you'd want something to measure cost/benefit with.

Peanuts comparing with the money Chelsea, Citch and Man U spent on fees and wages.

Net spend though? Or doesn't that suit this angle?

A rough guess would be CL qualification, but I imagine that would be a given of any Prem side or whats the point of turning up to games?

Giroud/Benteke we have been holding out for.

Our options have ceased and it seemed we thought we could get 1 of these 2 (Wenger messing us about to derail us i think)

With that in mind it seems we are putting our interest BACK into Dembele at Celtic, we shown an interest early on, but once we heared giroud may of been availible we put all of our eggs in his very handsome basket.
Problem we now have though is celtic have seen how prices have inflated very quickly (similar to swansea with sigg), they will be looking for around 35m, weras we could of got him for around the 20-25m mark 2 months ago.

I expect celtic to get a replacement in before we move though, so once you see them sign a striker, exoect us to make a move

4th...man city, man utd and chelsea are a level above us

but we should be competing for 4th with liverpool, spurs and arsenal...if we dont finish 4th but arent far behind then that would be acceptable

oh and win a trophy for goodness sake
A very fair objective to set. All talk about putting pressure on the so called top 6 won't wash when you spend £170m in one summer after coming 7th the previous season.

Why don't you put in a freedom of information request Dave, see what's really going on? I mean, Everton publicly funded after all, and should announce everything they do.

Knew it was a bad idea to sell Barry.

Already potentially cost us 2 points as I think last nights situation was made for him as he could have been subbed on for Schneids and calmed the game down into our favour.

We need to shift mccarthy and sign a proper CM

Not good enough. We need a target to measure this by. He gave one last season so why not this season?
We surely need to wait and see what his net spend is come Sept 1st before setting any objectives, as if it's negligible then how can you expect to see a higher bar set than last season?.........as surely we'd be just be treading water............

Or are you going to ignore that, until you want to take a swipe at Moshiri as per?

Lol. No. Not peanuts though is it when you outspend all but three other teams.

Net spend for owners, gross spend for a manager receiving the proceeds from the greatest sale of family jewellery in the club's history.

This is record breaking spending.

If he gets more cash on top - and we hope a good striker and defender is now brought in - then a definite CL spot objective has to be set.

Sum up perfectly. We would have parked the bus in CM if he is still here yesterday.

We need a proper DM as option other than Gana and Schneiderlin.

Spot on this mate. If we didn't get 4th, then we cannot finish 15 points behind 4th place last season.

The other thing is, Koeman has spent a fair wad of cash (and it looks like he'll spend more) this is his squad now, so there can't be any excuses.
