LOL, googled "Vardy racist" and apparently he said "Jap" for a Japanese person.

Bloody hell, off with his head, that is just terrible.

The amount of people hating him for any reason they can find, his looks being the main, is bizarre, he is just a person ffs.

It was a little bit more to it than that, it was the way he was acting saying it, it was pretty embarrassing for him but i'd still take him.

Is Jap worse than saying Brit for British?

Brits, ozzies, kiwis, japs??!! I understand that it may well be the manner in which he used it but even so.

This could be the maddest week in transfer window history.

So many unresolved issues with players.

United still looking to bring in 1 more

Arsenal the same

Chelsea 2/3

Spurs the same

Us also.

We have Mirallas, McCarthy and Barkley who all could leave.

We need a CF, CB and then depends on the 3 above possibly a winger and a CM.

It was said with intent, and repeated a few times. He was fined by Leicester and sent on diversity awareness training. This was two years ago. Since then he's repeatedly tried to put the incident behind him. How racist is he ? Well, racist enough to shoot his mouth off in such a way that might well have got him fired if he'd been working in the public sector. And if he were to act in similar fashion as an Everton employee I hope that the club and the fans would be tough as nails on him.

Probably not but if you watched the vid you wouldn't defend him, it was a 50/50 bullying and racism.

To be honest mate I don't know what he said, but if that is right what you are saying, then I would say everyone at some point in their lives have said something similar, about Japanese or Chinese,I would say I would be amazed if they had not.

Monaco want Slimani, so they will sell him before Vardy. No chance of getting him, or anyone decent this late in the window.

File under same old Everton.

Can we use this as the grading system

1. Andre Gray-horrible person
2. Ron Atkinson-bad racist
3. Vardy-thick chav who doesn't know any better but not really anything to cry about
4. Costa-too much snide
5. Rooney-the correct level of snide
6. Heitinga-pretends to be snide but actually soft
7. Jagielka-hard but fair
8. Baines
9. Linekar
Where does Geoff Boycott rank on that after his comment about needing to black up to get a knighthood?

My thoughts about Vardy, totally removing any personal like or dislike about his character etc (which obviously is there)

He's not 31 till January, and due to having a REALLY late start at the top level in the game, basically not even playing - and importantly training at a 'league' level until 2012 - so when he was 25, he has very very little games in his legs - so given the common perception that the amount of games a player has played from an early age will ultimately see them risk fading younger, then he is very much an Ian Wright type - another who started very late, - Wright kept his pace and was competing at the very top level well into his mid 30's.

So for me - the fee of 40m? assuming it includes a substantial proportion in add ons - i could live with.

How often in games against the rs - home and away, against Spurs, Arsenal - Chelsea, City and United and some others away from home have we found ourselves for long parts or all the game effectively pinned back under pressure and just hanging on with no genuine outlet, one thing Vardy would give is a constant threat against all of those teams, and his scoring record against the 'big boys' kind of illustrates that.

Like with a target man, as well as what the player himself brings in terms of goals etc, you have to look at how others games will benefit from him, Sigurdsson, Rooney, Klassen, Lookman, DCL, will all benefit massively from the space he creates

As usual great post mate.

I do have an issue with his age. I agree with you re miles in the legs but the body still ages and at 30 a deterioration will set in, particularly with the attributes Vardy has. He relies heavily on pace and if that were reduce it would have an impact upon his game. Owen a similar striker was finished around Vardys age.
I compare him to see Sigurdson who's came us around technique and ball striking which will remain constant as he ages it's a big difference. Likewise a striker like Giroud is older but his game is much better suited to being a bit slower in his 30s.

The other difficulty I have with Vardy is that he doesn't fit the profile we want. We have been after a target man all summer. I'm not sure it says a lot for our plan if we jettison it at the final minute. What does it say about the managers approach?

I have no problem with not bringing a target man. I prefer using a false 9 and a lad like Vardys pace and Calvert Lewin for games when we need a presence. However Koeman seems to have indicated he wanted an experienced big man so you have to try and deliver on that as a result.

The final concern I have is that this is like the 90s all over. We are spending big money on lads who will in 2-3 years be on the decline and the money tree will run out like it did towards the end of the 90s. I have no idea how sustainable the investment is, and if there's a plan to continue investing that's fair enough but I am concerned.
