Wtf is this?

Someone who was typing without realising that certain words such as jap, abbreviated form of Pakistani etc are deemed and rightly so as racist words, where as others like calling a swedish person a swede or danish a dane aren't - purely because the huge difference is that the former are used towards anyone of that particular skin colour or who looks like they could be from that region to the uneducated.

There appears to be a lot of panties getting bunched up over not much in here this morning.
Might I suggest people keep their righteous gun powder dry for more meaningful battle...

Good points you make there mate.

Would point out something about Vardy and players with pace in general though, a lot of them 'seem to age' a lot earlier than other types - but often it's a case of chicken and egg, as they have a tendency to pick up a lot more injuries such as hamstrings - which ultimately tend to plague them and long term slow them - so is it a case of it being exasperated by that factor, Owen a very good case in point, as is closer to home mirallas - who if you just looked at him - he has clearly not only slowed in general but 100% lost that explosion of pace which made him dangerous.

Which brings back the benefit of Vary having not played for that long at a really testing physical level, he's stayed clear of injury and as much as it can be said is extremely fresh for a 30yo.

We do indeed need and seemed to have been after a quality target man type, my assertion is, if we can't get one and the next best option is a journeyman type, then we'd be better served by bringing in the best available player who gives us dramatically different options to anything we currently have - which Vardy certainly does, and also one who is better than anything we have in that position by quite a way in what he does.

I wouldn't worry about the finances of such deals mate, we appear to have gone with a distinct plan to bring in two different categories of player - in regards to age, ones with a certain market value increase, and ones with the current ability to effectively pay for their prices by improved results and performances on the field right now. Ultimately they will not be sold for close to the amounts they where bought for, but the club seems acutely aware of this with the recruitment into the Under 23's going into absolute overdrive - as indeed has the level of teams we are beginning to loan players out too, in order to gain them experience and ultimately increase any future sale price should they not be deemed good enough for us.

As for the worry about sustainability, i would scratch that worry from your mind for now mate, we don't have the richest owner ofc, but what we do have 100% is the owner who has the shrewdest mind in terms of accounting and ensuring things aren't put at risk.

@catcherintherye

I think this is the point with us adding all the u21 players into the squad and the u23s.

If we have 11+ players in the first team squad that will last us for a decade then I think were ok to add in the odd Sigurdsson.

GK - Pickford
RCB - Keane
RB - Holgate/Kenny
RCM - Davies
CM - Besic
AM - Dowell/Klaassen
LW - Lookman
CF - DCL

That's as many as I can think of under 25, we need to be adding more to this group so that over the next 3-4 years time we have a really settled side. Bowler, Gibson and Walsh may be possibilities to step up as well I guess.

What I think we need is a Left back to replace baines (33 in dec) and another left sided centre back. Both should be under 25.

If we have half a squad of players under 25 then we can top this up with u21 stars and experienced players each year.

But for me we shouldn't be going for an older, experienced forward. We have Rooney and Sigurdsson supplying and educating the attacking players...for me we should be going for a young player, future superstar.

My girlfriends family are half Japanese and all of them refer to each other as "Japs" as do the other half of the family when they are coming over etc....

I suppose like anything it's just how these things are said.

I've never heard a Japanese person refer to themselves in that way. That's really weird.

Ooooh, there's a interesting one, the story of the overzealous racist brigade*

Japanese Jap versus Swedish Swede, Finnish Fin, Scottish Scot, (apologies just realised Finnfan is a racist name by comparison) the list goes on, is it acceptable to shorten your nationality because it's a country not a race?
Are people from Pakistan a race or just a country?

Only white people can be racist, it's the *ORB law,

What the actual ffff?!

Thursday at 11.00pm will be the time to judge the squad we have .the next few days should be busy to get the squad anywhere near the level to be competitive challenging the top six and cups .for me 3 positions need to be covered, left cb centre forward and a pacey wide man

Can't believe we will pay £40m for a 30 year old.
Vardy is a speed merchant and will loose a lot of his game when his legs go.
No disrespect to you personally or to other lads that say 40 m for a 30 yr old is too much for a club like Everton
It's that mentality that will stop us moving on to the next level
If Vardys goals get us CL in the next 2 seasons he will have proved to be worth every penny.
We can't keep buying potential , we have to buy for the here and now.
Hence the purchase of Rooney and Siggy.
We need to change the mentality of buy young and cheap and Seel older and high.
Can you imagine if we had managed to keep Stones and Lukaku and Barkley wanted to stay that along with our current squad would take us places.
It's a new era and we have to think like the big boys.
Age and price didn't stop Fergies buying Van Persie and he won them the league first year in.
Would you take Vardy for 40 m if it guaranteed you CL or the Europa or the FA. Cup.
Need to change our attitude to signings.
Hence I'd have Vardy but preferably Costa but only for a guaranteed full season

The thing is about money is that yes it's not ours and therefore I don't care. But if you spend 40 on a 30 year old he'll be worthless in 2 or 3 years. The money is finite. We will not be splurging like this every window so we need to spend wisely now so that we have more money in the future.
If Vardy can score 25 league goals for us this season we could have 50/60 CL money to spend next summer.
We have got to change our mentality.
Fergie signing RVP springs to mind
