Summer Transfer Window 2017

In a nutshell cos it's too hot to type War nd Peace.

1. Abject performance yesterday.
2. Sold 25 goal striker did not replace.
3. No focal point for attacking intent
4. Aging defence.
5. Squad lacks true depth
6. We should look to overturn "big" teams as "smaller" teams shown it's possible already. We just rolled over. See points 1 and 2 again.

Big nutshell.

I don't usually get into conversations on here and I don't think I will on this point because we are in agreement up to a point. Yesterday was as bad as you say but I prefer to think the third games of the season away to the champions isn't going to define our season. Lukaku sold himself but again we are in agreement, we need to bring in a centre forward, if we don't do so we will struggle. Your third point is much the same as your second.
Points 4 and 5 are similar and it will take more than one window and more young players fulfilling their potential to remedy this.
We will overturn "big" teams but it may take us a while to get there.
Good things usually take a bit of time to achieve, we are a work in progress. While instant gratification would be great I feel we need a bit of patience, we were a mid-table team and one that was looking down, we are now "best of the rest" but we are looking up.
I for one am willing to believe that we are moving in the right direction but that movement has only started.
I couldn't agree with you more on a centre forward.

Agree.

Davies would be an ideal signing.

Centre forward is going to be a struggle at this late stage. Of the 5 who regularly get mentioned on here

Giroud
Benteke
Vardy
Deeney
Costa

Giroud seems to be the popular choice, but has said he happy to get splinters all season on Arse's bench.

Costa is just a smoke screen for the club to say " we tried, but a deal cudn't be reached"

That leaves Benteke, Deeney and Vardy

Of those, i'd take Vardy, better work rate than Benteke, more goals than Deeney.

Ben Davies and Jamie Vardy for me.

I would go for Benteke, looks more suited to what Koeman is trying to do. With him in the central roll I feel we would be much more of an attacking force

1. Agreed. I put this down to the way we set up and managers tactics. Just think he's being overly cautious in these hard away games.
2. Agreed but at least we know we're in for a another striker. Going to be harder the closer we get to the deadline but we'll see where we are on Friday.
3. Not sure what you mean by this.
4. Agreed. But has also said he is looking for another CB. My concern is that he is looking for back up cover not a starter. Again, we'll see where we are on Friday. Personally I'd go for Dendoncker as he can cover CB and DM and is going to be class. Maybe Gibson.
5. Don't agree at all. Look at the players unavailable for yesterdays game and we still put out a strong looking team with options from the bench. Take some time to have a look at other clubs squads. Chelsea's is tiny and would be in crisis if they had our injury list. Both Liverpool and Arsenal are way overloaded with attack minded players. Spurs have a very small squad too. Get our injured players back and we lack a striker, a left side CB and cover for LB. All identified by the manager and, hopefully, sorted by end of window. Ideally I would also want another DM (sorted if we bring in Dendoncker for CB) and a pacey wide man if Mirallas goes.
6. Agreed. see 1 above.

Anyway, the bottom line is that I agree with most of your points apart from squad depth, which is, I believe, better than you think when compared with our peers (Man Utd apart). But I don't think you answered the original posters comments. He wasn't arguing that we have a team that can compete on the same terms as City, United Chelsea etc. He was arguing that our fans shouldn't expect to be able to compete with those teams at this stage in our evolution, given that we have only just started and they are all well and truly established. And I think he's spot on. For me, it was the manner of our defeat (and our inability to hold out against 10 men last week) that was disappointing rather than the defeat itself.

Any links to this?
The words "Benteke" and "Everton" are appearing in the same sentence from a usually reliable ITK on our forum this morning.
Mind you so are "sack" "the" "useless" "Dutch" " and "pillock".

He didn't look bothered (Benteke) on Saturday but on that basis you could end up with 8 or 9 of them.

I'm not trying to start a rumour, only posting what I've seen elsewhere; another rumour.

Are you able to link the post from your ITK my friend?

I suppose I mean that Rom (and to an extent Ross) were out attacking focus last season. This season we look toothless and whilst I like DCL and Sandro and Wayne we need to get a striker in. So essentially points 2 and 3 are one and same.

Realise we aren't the finished article but we've known we need a striker since Rom left and yesterday abject showing highlighted that more than ever !
