Summer Transfer Window 2017

Koeman also said in the same presser that it's the media pushing the Costa agenda in such words, so I think even he knows it's not possible. Interested IF it was, but I don't think he's confident it is!

Interesting that Dendoncker now seems available. For around £18-20m it's a no brainer, this lad is gonna be a player and imo, we need another genuine DM. I'm not convinced Schneiderlin is but he does a good job there and better than any of our other players and when he's missing we struggle. As good as Gueye is, he's not a genuine holding midfielder. Dendoncker would be brilliant for us!

And the club need to swerve Deeney. I'd take Vardy definitely but not Deeney. No way!....

..yes. I think it was telling when RK responded by saying we are after players who are "available". I can imagine we've enquired about the likes of Costa and Dolberg and been told they're a no go.

Man Utd announced Lukaku 7 weeks ago. 7 weeks! And the club obviously knew it was happening before that.

I agree with your point that the closer the to the deadline we get the harder it'll be to get in someone decent, but why have we left it so long?! Even "waiting for Giroud" is a poor excuse - he said weeks ago he was sticking with Arsenal.
Don't know mate. The only reason I can give is that we haven't been able to attract the type/quality of player we want. Plus the market has been a bit silly.

Personally I feel that Koeman is making a mistake if he is limiting us to experienced players as it's very difficult to attract experienced quality here, as well as being expensive and possibly outside of our price range. He maybe should have been more open minded to players like Dembele (Celtic version).

Throwing it back at you mate, who do you think we should/could have gone for. Realistically?

Our attacking options are significantly worse than any team that finished above us last season, and arguably worse than some that finished below us like Leicester. How have we ended up in that position. Buying one striker won't even come close to fixing it
Lemar is basically a replacement for Continho. Completely one footed, certainly great on the break, certainly prevents them from being sunk if Mane goes down, but Liverpool's issue is in the back. They cannot defend worth jack.

The difference maker is Lukaku we really don't know how Sandro and Klassen will turn out. Rooney and DCL for Valencia and Kone isn't so bad if we get a main striker. Wing options do look more threadbare admittedly. I think Mirallas will stay and hopefully Lookman develops, we do need more ready made though Sig isn't a winger but can operate from the left. The depth of the squad without Barry and a back up left back is worrying when you have Europa games though.

But when they sign Van Dijk they'll be looking pretty good. Certainly their first choice CB pairing will be better than ours.

If they do AND sign Tomas Lemar, hats off to them.

That's why several windows of spending for us are necessary to close the gap. We still have glaring issues at CF and another at CB. That being said, if those are solved by the end of the deadline, no complains from me about the summer window. None.
