The fact that we're scrambling about with three days to go of the window for a forward, having spent £140m, is embarrassing.

Terrible management from all involved.

It was the position that needed filling as quickly as possible.

My gut reaction is so-so, he wouldn't have any huge incentive to do well here.

That sort of deal cannot be the answer alone. For me it would only make sense if we signed another striker alongside him, but that has no logic either unless it was someone young who didn't mind a period of restricted game time. And we have one of those in DCL.

Best scenario is getting someone like Dembele in alongside Costa. Otherwise we look very vulnerable again in January, or far earlier if Costa decided to have an extended holiday with us.

If the chatter is right and Ross goes to Spurs , would it be feasable to take Janssen off them who would get limited /rotated gametime with Costa coming in till January ?

On a different note, I'm not sure how I feel about having a player called Kenneth in 2017.

He's a competitive lad and will want to be playing well to impress Athletico. Also he'll have an axe to grind with Chelsea and much of the league.

I agree with Dembele kind of, but wonder if we just don't fancy him. I think he will be used to see how much further DCL can develop, and Sandro an settle before we make another decision in January. Strikers may emerge, or catch the eye of Walsh. Likewise someone like Benteke may fall out of favour. January is not the worst time to buy at all, and we get an excellent striker who knows the league until get further information.

It really is though isn't it. Every man and his dog knew Rom was leaving. Now DCL looks very good up there but he's just a lad, he needs to be played in rotation with a starting striker, and there isn't one to be seen. There aren't even any reliable links to any, perhaps most worryingly.
