To be honest it's only the Neymar transfer that has distorted the prices being asked for players. There wasn't many people complaining when we got potentially 90m for lukaku at the time, which made him the 2nd most expensive footballer at the time. However surprise, surprise the RS look to be one of the main beneficiaries of this Neymar transfer, as prior to it happening they'd probably be lucky to get 70m for Coutinho. Now they could get in excess of 130m. However we have reached the situation whereby we still haven't replaced lukaku, but clubs seeing the money we got for lukaku will now see us as desperate to get someone in and ask silly prices. 30m for the Cardiff striker proving the point.
The mistake Everton has made in this window is that they should have secured a replacement for lukaku prior to selling him.
