Summer Transfer Window 2017

As it stands right as of now, our major interest and activity seems to be trying to get the best possible fee for the last remaining very talented player remaining from when Koeman took charge.

Whatever the variety of reasons for players being sold (and as of now the sell to buy brigade have every rigth to state this is the major reason for sales - and nothing has effectively changed besides us receiving such a huge fee that it enabled a misdirection on that fact by the numbers brought in with that Lukaku money)

BUT it is unmistakable that once Lukaku was sold the transfer activity ground to an absolute halt, sigurdsson deal aside which frankly became a bit of a pantomime and seemed to absorb every last persons interest involved in transfer activity at the club.

as of right now, i would pick ;last seasons Everton team with Barkley and Lukaku in it to beat the current one, i also think that clubs below us have strengthened the teams or will do so in the remaining couple of days more than we have, all besides Arsenal above us have strengthened better than we have as well, and throw in the extra European games we will have this season and i can see us points wise slipping down on last year and 2-3 teams below improving significantly.

Pointed out a whilst ago that as of this moment we are an injury away from a Martina/Jagielka/Williams/Baines back 4 and with no recognized striker.

Removing the blue tinted specs, if it was another team with our squad and with our business this summer in 7th that we where chasing i would feel they had weakened and would hope to catch them, and that is a big worry

...I think that is a very measured and considered view. 1 day 14 hours 30 mins left of the window will tell us more.

Very insightful mate and can't say I disagree with any of it.. Not sure why you quoted my response to somebody having a go at Lukakus heading ability though.

Anyway mate. With 2 days left how do you think we'll do.. Surely you can't be as confident as you were a week ago. I know I'm not. I like this Croatian lad, but very concerned about the striker situation now. Just hope theres some truth to the Costa talk, even until January.

Misquoted two people in the post mate lol, the curse of trying to message on a mobile for an old timer ;0

Of course this is a totally different scenario as these were all established and first XI choices for their respective clubs.

This biff cannot even get a game for Watford and has had more clubs than Rory Mcilroy, his goalscoring record is laughable and he is a consummate journeyman looking at his CV.

I can see you are trying to put a positive viewpoint on it, but it doesn't really work in this case.
To be honest I wasn't happy to some extent no.

Keane and pickford are both young players though for the future and long term, so hardly comparable. Siggurdson I did question in here why no-one else has gone for him and whether he would be worth so much money. Gueye was an unknown to everyone at the time so hard to form a previous opinion there.

The comparison here is that benteke at a similar level scores goals, this Watford lad doesn't. What is the point in signing a player not good enough for Watford? Because the players you mentioned were all among or the best players at their club when we signed them. None of them were cast offs and unwanted at that level , they were key. That's the difference here, never mind where they come from, it's whether their club actually want them or not.

Ideally id want us to go out and get the Costa loan and get Muller in aswell considering he isnt wanted, alongside Mustafi as a left sided CB. But we are Everton and we dont seem to think in the logical way.

Sadly this is the truth.

We've sold our two most productive players from last year.

No matter what way we spin this, Moshiri is clearly NOT trying to turn Everton into contenders.

Would much rather take a risk on a player like Nicolai Jorgensen then get a guaranteed flop like Okaka in. I understand exploring other options initially, but the options we're exploring now are seemingly bottom of the barrel. Would cost around what Cardiff are asking for their striker I imagine

Agree mate. I said as much yesterday. Very sad times.

Pre-Moshiri was sell to buy.

The Moshiri era coincides with us receiving our slice of the biggest TV deal in history, so rightly we are spending more than we're receiving, yet we're still unable to keep hold of our best players. We were under no pressure to sell Lukaku whatsoever, yet sold him to the first bidder, whose bid is now looking tiny compared to what's gone on afterwards in the market. 140m for Coutinho? Crazy that we sold him so early in the summer with no replacement lined up, and for such a relative pittance.

Last season's Everton, minus Lukaku and Barkley, plus Pickford/Keane/Sandro/Rooney/Klaassen/Sigurdsson = worse off than had we bought and sold nobody, such is the importance of having a goal machine of a striker. To me, Sandro, Klaassen, Rooney are marginal improvements at best.

I get that we have signed some good players, but not replacing your absolute star player is outrageous by all concerned.

All these people saying get batshuayi, have you seen him play? Looks woeful. Maybe it's because he's at Chelsea people have the blinkers on.

Hope we don't go near him.
Out of interest, how much have you actually seen him play?

Was it the 10 minute cameo against Spurs when he scored an unfortunate own goal, and the first game of the season against Burnley when he played with next to no service when down to 10 men?

Or did you see him play last season and score a goal every 48 minutes for Chelsea (with a goal/assist contribution every 40 minutes)? Did you see him play the season before for Marseille where he got a contribution every 1.2 games? Perhaps you saw him in pre season where he scored 3 goals in 2 games against Arsenal and Bayern Munich. Or perhaps you saw him score 4 goals in his handful of appearances for Belgium so far.

To be honest I've no idea how good he is or how good he can be .. but those stats don't lie, and a couple of poor performances to start this season doesn't change the fact that Chelsea deemed him good enough to spend £33m barely a year ago.

I'm doing what i always do with Everton mate, preparing for the worst case scenario now, it's never let me down in the past doing that as the club never fails to disappoint on that regard.

Noticed that the usual 'itk' twitterazzi have already started to spout lines about the club hierarchy old guard being the problem, nic eand convenient excuse ofc, and one wonders if they are such a problem then why has the new owner decided to leave them inc harge in positions where they can actually hamper things.

the hiring of a DOF should have instantly given us the separation between CEO/Chairman being able to effectively hamper recruitment, if it hasn't then we have either hired the wrong man (i hope not as i like Walsh), have not given him adequate power to do his job without interference (which is 100% on Moshiri if that is the case), or have an owner who is too weak to actually force his will onto people like Kenwright and Elstone - which is of the three the most alarming scenario.

OFC this all could change in the next day and a half, but only a blind optimist would predict it will
