Summer Transfer Window 2017

I said to myself I wouldn't come on here in the next few days, but I couldn't stay away.

Wish I had, like.

I'm not being overly positive. But just wait two days at least before writing the season off. Utter jokes.

Batshayi is not getting a look in at Chelsea if they sign Llorente. To be honest at 14million we should have been all over Llorente, but hey, I guess we aren't they skilled in the transfer market or he just doesn't want to join us. Barkley for Batshayi straight swap, got to be worth a try. If not add 10million and it should be a deal.

Unfortunately bats played against us last week... so he knows how bad we are at the moment

While I don't entirely disagree with what @bluestevon has said, you can't keep players that don't want to be here and expect it to be fruitful.

Rom and Ross have brought us nothing in terms of success, so if they wanted to go then so be it. We're not doing anything wrong in getting the best possible fee for either of them.

What is disappointing is that the striker search has gone down to the wire.

I did expect it, but at the same time I thought that would be as we were holding out for our number one target.

That may well still be the case, but at the same time it's also looking desperate as we enter the final few days.

Now, that's on the club. It's the board and Walsh and yes to an extent Koeman to blame - though only in the sense of the possibility he has held deals up, though I think that's unlikely.

It may be that the waiting pays off though, and we do get our target in. In which case it'll be well played by all involved.

We were efficient in our business at the start of the window. A window which was always going to be about moving players out who either didn't want to be here or aren't good enough for where we want to go - and which would distort fees - which is why the sell-to-buy brigade are talking wham.

We've improved the squad, but yes, still need improvements in 2 areas. One of these, the striker, should have been sorted by now and Walsh and the board must take the flak for that.

But, let's just wait and see.

Players leaving isn't an issue mate, unless it looks like we haven't even planned for it happening, both United and Chelsea lost their star strikers this season, both went out and made a new one their second signing made.

We seemed to prioritize a replacement for Barkley - well two in fact in Klassen and Sigurdsson, we brought in a replacement for valencia/kones role before it, Mirallas problems arise and within 24 hours we move for this Croatian lad as a replacement effectively for him, yet 7 weeks on (and let's face it that 7 week figure is giving the board a huge benefit of doubt that the deal wasn't struck many many weeks/months prior) and we are acting very much like West Ham do in their 'search' for a striker last season.

as for the sell to buy talking wham mate, maybe they are, but ultimately you look at the figures, i have very rarely seen a manager not choosing to spend the money he has available to him, so if we don't spend much more than we bring in, it would suggest he was given a budget, and given a further budget which factored in player sales or a percentage of that figure he would receive, that very much is a sell to buy model.

This post could be entirely pointless in two days, or it could be very very relevant, only the next couple of days will show us really.

Will add something btw to this, IF we are failing to bring in a quality striker, then the club should 100% stop any sale of Barkley, it shouldn't even be under consideration.

My biggest issue is a fear factor, we don't have one yet, I.e on match day v utd you would be thankful if lukaku Mata and matic was injured with Chelsea William hazard Pedro fabragas etc, when the top six are playing us is there anyone in our squad that the opposing fans would love to be injured ? I'm guessing not really and that's the problem here, I don't think we would hear thank God sandro or klassen is injured etc

These next 36 hours are crucial for our first marquee signing otherwise like stated previous this is going to be a long hard slog of a season
I really don't care what the opposition fans think. Having Pickford/Keane/Gueye available for games is of massive importance and they will win us a lot of points over the course of the season, even though they might not be as popular with fans of Fifa and YouTube clips. I honestly don't give a stuff what opposition fans think of our "glamour" players or lack thereof if we're winning points in the games against them.

Steve mate...

Rooney, Sigurdsson, Davies, Sandro, Bolasie.

They've all shown either here or at previous clubs they're very capable of that. Heck, one of them just scored a 50-yard volley to put us in Europe.

We're looking to add a few more in. It shouldn't have gone on so long and if a repeat of last year happens then serious questions must be asked of certain members of the board when it comes to getting the late deals done.

Barkley and Lukaku have brought us nothing. We don't owe them anything. We got a massive fee for Rom and if Ross wants to go then we can't risk losing him for free. I'd rather bring in £40m.

Do any of those players get you off your seat when they receive the ball mate?

May sound a silly question, but in some ways i don't think it is.

I wouldn't say the issue is late deals either btw, i would say the issue is deliberately leaving 'attempts' at deals late, because frankly that gives a lovely excuse of running out of time - an excuse which a lot of people do indeed accept.

Agree with you mate. The whole month of July and August was used to get Sigurdsson who wasn't a necessity even. Something between Walsh, Koeman and the board is not right. I am sure Walsh must have some targets in mind which Koeman would have refused as he wanted to make sure he got a proven goal scorer. As far as the board is concerned, they've negotiated very well once they go after a certain target. It shouldn't have been an issue of lack of money as well.

Last year we waited till the last minute and got Valencia as a striker. He was an impact sub at most. I didn't expect us waiting this much again to get a striker. But it looks that way now. If we get Costa then it would perhaps work for the short term but the fact is we have bottled the striker signing for 2 seasons now. In 24 months, Walsh, Koeman and the board together could not find another goal scoring striker knowing Lukaku's departute was inevitable.
