  • Rooney for back-up striker and no.10. He can tutor and help both Barkley and Lukaku, leadership, raise our profile (new stadium, Rooney & hopefully Europe). £100k a week max wages though! 2 year deal with optional 3rd year. £7-8m
  • Timo Horn for GK - we need a top drawer keeper, not just a decent/reliable keeper like Robles. £15m
  • CB Would prefer Manalos to Keane but I prefer my centre halves to be out and out defenders. With Schneiderlen always coming to collect the ball very deep, we dont need a ball playing centre half. Up to £20m.
  • Back-up right back. No idea who though. Over to you Walsh.

Against teams like Sunderland who don't press high up that's fine but against Tottenham I think you'll see a different pattern to the game.

yeah I agree but regardless, RK will not instruct his centre-halves to play their way out of trouble when pressed. If schneiderlen or a midfield player isn't on, it's hit the channels or Rom.

Eamon Dunphy (for once) was right when he said "if Italy wanted a great passer to play at the back they would play Pirlo there".

Well Chiellini isn't amazing but Bonucci is considered by some (including Pep) to be one of if not the best ball playing defenders.

Agree about the Koeman bit. Just a personal preference of mine to have defenders who can, when on it's smart, play out of the back.

Keane and Van Dijk are both good on the ball. I don't think he just wants grocks.

Edit: Holgate too who he clearly rates actually. Granted Williams is hardly Messi, but I think he was brought in to shore us up defensively in the short term which was desperately needed.

Only three first XI players needed - Mertens, Van Dijk, Keane. £100m. More than doable if we get Europa (probable) and we send out a message by signing up Rom and Ross to new contracts.

Backup players to be purchased depending on whether Koeman and Walsh think the likes of Connolly/Calvert-Lewin can step up if Baines/Rom get a knock.

4-3-3/3-5-2 swapping Davies for Holgate or vice versa depending on what's needed.

Agreed. Though I would perhaps go Tielemans over Mertens.

Anderlecht sporting director Herman Van Holsbeeck has told Everton that they will have to cough up in excess of £15m to recruit midfielder Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian youngster has emerged as the top summer target for Everton with manager Ronald Koeman keen to add more creativity to his squad.

Everton have been scouting the 19-year-old for a while and Van Holsbeeck warns that they will have to pay more than the £15m fee, Leicester City spent on Genk's Wilfried Ndidi last month.

"It will have to be much more than the €17m (£15m) Genk received for Wilfred Ndidi," he told VTM Nieuws.

"I have a sum in my head but I will not say. Everything depends on the clubs to come. I think a transfer must always be a win-win situation.

"For the player, the club that buys and the club that sells. His entourage has always been correct with us, so we will be right with him."

Tielemans is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the Belgian league, and his versatility could make him the complete midfield star in years to come.

Despite his tender age of 19, Tielemans has managed 156 appearances for Anderlecht, scoring 28 goals in the process.

We won't sign another midfielder this summer sadly. As much as I would love Tielemans it would only happen if Barkley was out the door and I don't think RK will sell him.

Why? What's wrong with having competition, I'd like to think signing youri is the kind of signing we'll be making as it beats having cleverly as your back up option any day

I agree that Chiellini has never been spectacular, but he is one of the most reliable center backs I have ever seen. I think Stones has done more blunders this season than Chiellini for his entire career.
By the way, do you still trust Guardiola's judgement on center backs?
