Nah.

Koeman likes three players.

A central 'pivot' (Deeney could fill that role, but no way should he be first choice for it, we need to be aiming miles higher), and then two wide forwards who are free to interchange and course havoc.

He then has a sitter (Schneiderlin) and two box-to-box midfielders and the full-backs to offer support.

He often played 4-2-3-1 at Soton. Mane, Tadic and one other off Pelle

No just not the type of name this club shall go for. For me anyway.

Underwhelming.

We recruited Steve Walsh so that we're not relying on names, but hidden gems that other teams don't notice the value of. If we go for names we will lose out to other clubs more often than not at this stage of our project. We need more consistency before we can attract names.

i agree, man city have shown that throwing massive numbers at all kinds of defenders still doesn't guarantee you a great defence. Compare that to spurs who picked up brilliant defenders for low fees.

Mangala £32m, Otamendi £32m, stones £50m, bravo £17m vs alderweireld £12m, vertonghan £12m, lloris £11m.

Massively better players those ones signed by spurs there.
Wasn't Lloris 25mill?

Signing up Sandro by the end of the season would be a good sign of our intentions this summer to get our business done early.

For £5m can we really go wrong? He could probably have a very average couple of seasons for us and still double/treble our money.

He looks a brilliant player, quick, great finish, has scored more free kicks than anyone in La Liga this season (which we desperately need), and has the Barca education.

To leave Barca in his own right after playing a part in their squad shows his ambition too.

I'd hope Koeman's connection can help push this over the line.

Think they have agreed terms with the player etc mate, but it's still a provisional agreement until the end of the season - the Belgium journo Terreur said as much the other day, meaning that their is still an option for another team to come in and sign him ahead of Monaco.

It 100% won't be us that does do if anyone does though

People talk about this front three that Koeman likes, but if this Sandro stuff is true where does he fit in? The focal point of that front three (ala Pele) or one of the wide forwards?

Any early business for players who have this amount of potential/ability and for anything like that price would be fantastic.

We have a massive overhaul needed and hopefully coming this Summer, doing business early is essential, and grabbing absolute bargains will just help us use what funds we have to improve other areas of the team as well. All about focusing what resources we have for the best quality and picking up bargains will stop us diluting whatever we have financially and give more chance on the major targets (expensive ones)
