How about assists from free kicks though?

Well obviously it's more but what's the issue? An assist is an assist. At the end of the day if you have a player that can produce the magic from a set piece and put it bang on the money to nick a goal and get either a point or 3 in a poor game where it looks like no one is going to win or you could lose on a whimper then it's a massive plus to have and could be all the difference in finishing where we are now and higher.

People go on about his set plays, "that's all his about, it's all he's got...", but who do we have in our squad that produces quality set play delivery 9/10 in each and every game? Who do we have that delivers the results from set plays like Sigurdsson does? No one, that's who!

To have that ability is a skill, an art. But to say Sigurdsson is just a FK specialist and nothing more is a bit degrading of the player. He's better than that. Technically he's a very good player and can create, he's got a very good shot on him with both feet, he puts himself about and puts a shift in and, imo, he is a very good player...

Actually someone will offer him more money than us, probably Arsenal, so it won't happen any way.

Everton are closing in on the signing of Southampton full-back Cuco Martina according to Football Faithful sources.

The Dutch born, Curacao international is out of contract with the Saints this summer, and has been linked with a move to Goodison Park by the Daily Mail earlier this month.

Sources close to The Football Faithful can reveal that the Southampton right back flew from Amsterdam to Liverpool on Wednesday morning to hold talks with Everton.

Martina originally moved to the Premier League back in 2015, moving from Dutch club FC Twente to Southampton, signing on a two-year contract. His only goal in English Football came in a 4-0 win over Arsenal, when the defender scored an absolute screamer.

Should the 27-year-old complete a move to Everton, he would be reunited with former Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, who left St Mary’s last summer to take over at Goodison Park. Ever since then, Martina has been linked with a move to Everton, but with the defender jetting in from The Netherlands this morning, it seems a deal is close.

He would provide cover for the injured Everton and Irelamd defender Seamus Coleman who is set to be out until at least Christmas after a horrific leg break whilst on international duty against Wales.

Christ I'm sick of the summer already. If this utterly woeful excuse of a footballer is signed and gets in the team before Kenny is given a fair crack then I give up.

I think this is a nailed on deal for us this summer! With Coleman out we need cover and this makes sense. Koeman knows him, has managed him and knows exactly what he's getting and he's a free and would be on average wages so it would allow us to get a player in for a position we need and wouldn't eat into the budget and allow us to spend more else where.

We've seen of late that although he's a great prospect, Holgate isn't a RB and we can't keep on using him there week in, week out and again, although Kenny looks a prospect I'm not sure he'd give us consistent performances whilst Coleman is out as he's new to the first team and the prem so we do need adequate cover/competition at RB and Martina looks to be the man for Koeman.
