Then when it emerged that we were linked to Williams and Bolasie (after signing Stek) I lost my temper with it all and said theres no point signing Gueye as we had McCarthy.

Little did I know he would do as well as he had.

So now were comparing Gueye to Martina?

Ive been really vocal (as much as you can be in a post) about who i would like.

Koulibaly, very good long passes and can come out of defence to sweep up behind the DM and also run past him with the ball.

Carvalho, excellent positionally and great passing ability quite like a "Carrick" type i suppose. Would allow Koulibaly to go past him adding numbers in midfield to drive us forward

Witsel, Solid all round box to box player, very consistent and can provide the link between defence and attack. Also a leader.

The first two i mentioned 12months ago...would not have imagined we would be supposedly close to signing either.

Those 3 for me would be akin to us having a top 4 first 11. Maybe even a championship level first 11.

Barry would be there to guide the young players and also help carvalho to adjust but limited game time.

McCarthy would be brought on if we needed more defensive nous in midfield.

Gueye seems pointless.

I would be careful here zatara. reading your posts, for every one you can be vaulted to have got right there will be 50 failed youth that you have probably championed on here.

guess that is the bonus of talking about so many players, eventually you will get one right.

Honestly....with the number of players we seemingly need i find it hard to be too bothered about securing a backup RB on a free (with low wages to boot I'm sure). Seems reasonable. Heck, what's to say he is not going to be cover for Kenny.

If come August 1 he is our marquee signing then fume full speed ahead.......for now (in MAY) it seems excessive.

I don't think so. Has there ever been, in PL history, a more adamant 7th place finish?
Unfortunately, that is about as good as it's ever going to get. Teams above us just have waaaay more money.
So forget the PL and concentrate solely on Europe
