Juve will announce De Ligt today and Rabiot is having his medical, that’s quite a lot of Euro’s out going, hopefully they need to bring in funds and sell us Kean.
Rabiot I think is out of contract, but will expect a chunky signing on fee. But on the back of what they paid for Ronaldo last summer the De Ligt fee is another biggie. You would think that they needed to raise some funds to balance the books. You look at their squad and they are very top heavy with forwards, and that's without the likes of Higuain returning from loan today. Kean is one of the few who are marketable, and with him being out of contract next summer and refusing to sign a new one, it isn't out of the question that they could decide to cash in on him.

The bigger question is whether we could possibly be the beneficiaries of that.

I'd rather we have him in much sooner so everything is settled by the time the season starts

Granted, Zouma shouldn't be too difficult to plug back in, but I'd like all of our starting XI to have worked with each other for the majority of pre-season

My worry is Zouma won't happen but we'll leave it too late and will have to panic buy another defender, which could end us up with another Funes Mori

Even if it means spending a few more notes, I'd like us to get this Zouma thing sorted, and if Chelsea are dragging the heels over what the new manager wants then we should go after one of the alternatives. Brands and Silva have done well so far with signings, I'd like to think they've got some good Zouma alternatives to pick from

We won’t panic buy. We have Keane and Mina who are a perfectly fine pair should we fail to get another CB in (we won’t though). The days of Enner Valencia’s on loan on deadline day because we have absolutely no one else are gone.

A information that I will give to you. Yacine Brahimi will sign for Arsenal. The contract with Porto end today

The boss strikes again...

There is always John Stones. Hahaha

Hopefully we won't, but if we leave it really late it's only going to be a negative IMO

A deadline day deal for Zouma wouldn't be the end of the world, but if it falls through then we're going to get absolutely shafted money wise on whoever we go for instead (Like you, I believe we're buying another CB this window, by hook or by crook) because they'll know we'll need him, all because we've tried to bleed Chelsea with the cheapest deal we can for Zouma

I really think we shouldn't overdo it with trying to get the fee down and just sort the transfer nice and early, even if it means a couple more million get spent

Might level the playing field a bit but it’s not been spending limits that have held us back. Poor recruitment, poor mentality, lack of player and manager buy in into the proposition, lack of ambition in the board room. Take your pick.
Pure economic tells us that we need to get a big chink of wages of our books. But at least we don't have that FFP stigma hanging over our heads any more which is a big positive.

This would be the issue imo
