Prem

La Liga
Bundesliga
Ligue 1

Championship
Eredivisie
Portuguese league
Russian league
Brazilian league
Turkish league

Belgian league
Scottish prem
Argentinian league
MLS
Liga MX

League One

That’s how I see the hierarchy of football leagues. Which on reflection shows how easy it is for the Prem to pick up talent - not taking into account the small pocket of powerhouses in the leagues itself, the world is our oyster, hopefully Marcel sends the scouts to South America and discovers some gems.
Championship and League One can't be so far apart

Heard a rumour today that they play football in Italy.

Argentine league is streets ahead of Scotland. MLS probably is too.

It amazes me that genuine Everton supporters still give Havrey and his buddies any notice on here

Based on his username, this is definitely his shirt

Auriemma explained: “Lazaro’s agent is talking to Napoli… The price is very high. Hertha Berlin asks for €30m, but for €25m you can take him away. There are Premier League clubs who follow him, particularly Everton and Leicester, who continually observe him during Hertha home games.”

The number of players we would definitely keep in the squad is still really low and shows the amount of work still to be done by Brands and Silva to rebuild what was one of the poorest most unbalanced squads in the premier league. The summer window was very good but still the amount of work to do is huge.

Keep:

Pickford, Virginia, Kenny, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Davies, Siggurdson, Bernard, Lookman, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin.

That’s 13 players out of 35ish who don’t have a question mark by them (although I’d personally question a few).

The definitely out list and the maybe list is therefore close to 2/3 of the squad including some of our first team players in Gueye (presumably wants to move if PSG come back) Gomes (loan) and Zouma (I don’t rate him but Silva does).

A huge amount of work to do before we get to the position where we have a stable squad of quality players with strength in depth who have played together for a while and can mount a challenge to the top 4 or 6.

Silva walked into a squad with the likes of Klaassen Williams Martina and Luke Garbutt in it and some fans expected him to challenge the top 6 immediately. Absolutely laughable.

Stick with the plan. If we kee recruiting like we did last summer then we’ll be better next season and better the season after both on the balance sheet and on the pitch.

5 years of rank recruitment under Martinez and Koeman has utterly destroyed us. Silva can’t carry the can for that.

YESSSSS

Would say the hierarchy of league strength is:

Prem
La Liga
Serie A

Bundersliga
Ligue 1

Eredivise

The rest

Think a player from the Bunderliga whilst still a risk is more proven than someone from the Turkish farmer league.

It all depends with Dzeko - if the club cant get anyone better who's younger he may well be a stop gap option for a season if the fee is moderate and wages not crazy. Think he'll be off to somewhere like West Ham if Arnautovic leaves but we desperately need a top striker.

Not another risk signing or 14 year old FM wonderkid

I'd have it as:

Prem, La Liga

Serie A, Bundesliga

Eredivise
Ligue 1 (beyond PSG)

Portugal,
etc etc

I never get why Ligue 1 is considered in the 'big 5'. This is a league who historically are poor in European competition too, which makes it even stranger.

Thing is though, it's not that these other leagues are 'bad'. Thats what gets me about fans especially in the premier league discounting other leagues, it often comes across as snobishness, not ever league has the riches and finances of the PL but it doesn't make them bad. And the fact is, the ONLY other league close is La Liga, which means that all bar two leagues must be bad in the eyes some!

Problem is, a lot of players from continental leagues just don't adapt well to the style of the premier league, it often has little to do with where they have come from.

It's about finding the players who do adapt, rather than taking risks on those who don't. All comes down to great scouting, and a little bit of luck and risk/reward!
