Inter, Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Lazio

Definitely stroner than La Liga IMO.

Barca Madrid and Atletico would still be above all of these except Juve. But you’re right that outside of those 3 the likes of Valencia Sevilla and Villarreal have fallen away recently.

Nice of the echo to let people know our targets months before the window opens. Can’t remember too many tactical analyses on Salah Fabinho etc before they signed. They were just suddenly announced.
Mate, it's them whoppers from the Echo, reading that it says we are going in for Thorgan Hazard, i will believe that when i see him holding up the shirt tbh.

I think they did mate. The club have tightened the leaks right up, so if it's in the Echo it's likely to either be speculation or Brands planting information for our benefit. We did this very effectively with Tierney to get Digne.

As it happens I agree with the title, I sense we will go more left field. Lets be honest, had it not been for the World Cup we'd have probably got Mina for £20 million and we'd have not known him.

I think it will be a window with more younger players and a couple who've lost their way a bit. That suits me fine as well.

The squad feels more settled now and so does the club so there's better chance of them settling in and making a difference.

The number of players we would definitely keep in the squad is still really low and shows the amount of work still to be done by Brands and Silva to rebuild what was one of the poorest most unbalanced squads in the premier league. The summer window was very good but still the amount of work to do is huge.

Keep:

Pickford, Virginia, Kenny, Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne, Davies, Siggurdson, Bernard, Lookman, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin.

That’s 13 players out of 35ish who don’t have a question mark by them (although I’d personally question a few).

The definitely out list and the maybe list is therefore close to 2/3 of the squad including some of our first team players in Gueye (presumably wants to move if PSG come back) Gomes (loan) and Zouma (I don’t rate him but Silva does).

A huge amount of work to do before we get to the position where we have a stable squad of quality players with strength in depth who have played together for a while and can mount a challenge to the top 4 or 6.

Silva walked into a squad with the likes of Klaassen Williams Martina and Luke Garbutt in it and some fans expected him to challenge the top 6 immediately. Absolutely laughable.

Stick with the plan. If we kee recruiting like we did last summer then we’ll be better next season and better the season after both on the balance sheet and on the pitch.

5 years of rank recruitment under Martinez and Koeman has utterly destroyed us. Silva can’t carry the can for that.

We broke the back of a lot of it last summer though. It looks like Bolasie is doing ok in Belgium so a decent chance he gets shifted. The 3 young lads (Lookman, Vlasic, Onyekuru) should bring in approaching £100 million (or could be useful first team additions). We then have players like Jagielka, Baines, Williams who are out of contract. There are a couple who will be more difficult to shift, namely Mirallas and Sandro, certainly with Sandro he will likely have another pre-season and we have to wait and see on him.

You have undoubtedly got an issue then with players such as Tosun/Walcott/Schneiderlin though I think it's important we don't go overboard on them. If they have to remain as squad players they can probably be quite effective in the short term. I do think we may get a buyer for them, particularly Schneiderlin who has looked better recently.

Players are improving within the squad, if we can focus on adding 3-4 players this window who all make a difference that will be brilliant.

Sandro is going to be a problem, but he still has some positive attributes.

Niasse, McCarthy, Mirallas, Garbutt, Tarashaj, Martina (gone already we think) are probably combined on close to 300K a week, all in their last contract year. They should want to be moved.

I believe Schneiderlin will want to move - there are definitely some whispers about moving back to France. He'd take a bit of a pay cutt, but we'd probably pay a bit to move him on as well. Walcott has some utility and seems like a decent guy. Tosun isn't a bad player, someone will want him.

He’ll retire when his Everton contract expires, not a club on the planet that will take him on permanently.
Of course they would, don't be ridiculous. Fiorentina is a decent side in a top league and he plays a bit. He can play multiple positions, he's a decent player, just not at a top PL side. He'll be 32, but he's got one year on his contract. He'll force a move and take a pay cut somewhere.
