It's never too late for Troy....

Sooner have Helen Of Troy !!

Three/four after Gomes and Zouma it was Mikey, I think, so those you listed hopefully plus a RB and CM, I think they will look for at least one or maybe both those signings to be homegrown, my guess from the RB’s linked would be Reece James or Jayden Bogle, not sure about CM’s but I reckon Billings from Huddersfield would be a better value signing than Fabian Delph who is no doubt on a big wages.

Another one to see the Billings potential. Would be one hell of a player for us.

I'd be quite happy with that list. 2 New starters is just fine rather than a bunch that will take time to gel.
Well I wasn't really saying we need 5 new players, I was just clarifying that the 5 Silva mentioned clearly didn't include the 2 we already have.

I certainly wouldn't mind another 5 though. Let's not forget that Gomes and Zouma were already here, so that list would see us only bringing in 3 'new' players to the squad, 1 of whom is probably not actually expected to play. The others don't necessarily need to be going straight into the starting XI, but a youngish back up right back and the same in central midfield would be good additions I think.

People's ideas of recruitment are skewed by the fact we've done things badly in the past. There's nothing inherently wrong with making a load of signings at once, plenty of teams have done it successfully. Just because we've messed it up previously doesn't mean we should only ever sign one player at a time now. Liverpool signed 9 new first team players in the 12 months before the start of last season and lost one game all year. There's no reason why you can't make wholesale changes if you're clever about it.

Here is today's alternative transfer news update, back by absolutely no demand at all;

Santiago Sosa deal has moved closer after 'The Specialist' was brought in to sort out a Visa. In a highly unusual move Farhad Moshiri made contact with Ray Quick from Miami in a bid to get the move pushed through, it's thought the deal will be completed on Friday and immigration officials family members will be returned unharmed.

Everton still hold an interest in Adolfo Gaich, the contract stipulates that he resolves the issues with his incredibly suspect haircuts prior to signing. There was a hold up in negotiations when Adolfo boarded the flight to Liverpool with a suspicious uniform packed in his luggage, he later explained he uses this for role play. Customs also destroyed a comedy spoof version of 'the boy in striped pyjamas' from his hand luggage.

Reports at the end of last week suggesting we held an interest in Diego Costa have been quashed after he confirmed that he has turned to his true calling, cannibalism. He's yet to confirm a target but Bill Kenwright hasn't been seen since going over to negotiate the now failed deal so some good appears to have come from this.

One bit of news on outgoings is that RB Leipzig appear to have stepped up their interest in Ademola Lookman, he is no longer required and a poor showing in Kenya confirmed to Silva that he wasn't up to PL football. In a shameful attempt to shift blame Lookman has blamed his injury on a chance meeting with Liam Neeson in the tunnel prior to the game.

More news as we receive it.

Thanks Bungs.

Judging by the response, there's clearly a gap in the market for this sort of round-up on the Grand old Team Forum.

Myers is the most cringe ‘ITK’ out there. It’s scary that there are people who hang on his every word and campaign for the club to give him a job.
He was actually decent at the fan engagement job when he had it (really weird the way he left all of a sudden... would be interested to know what was behind that) but his transfer stuff is awful - just parrots the latest news from Sky.

Rumour was that it had something to do with that Palace game that got called off - miscommunication lost the club money/something with the police, if I remember rightly

Wonder if he wanted to get Big Nev involved?

Massive no no from Chairman Bill that. Surprised he wasn’t hung for being a traitor.

Interestingly enough, Mick McCarthy himself has said that if Keane stayed they probably wouldn't have gotten out of the Group as he just wasn't mentally right
It somewhat suits mcCarthy to say that, Keane's performance against a fine Dutch side that didn't qualify is as good a CM display as I've ever seen, without Keane they wouldn't have even got to Japan
