At this point im beginning to suspect our primary target is Kean, and we are willing to put the RW position on the backburner this year to first get in a top striker. I think we are looking to do this by either taking a player on loan, or one of the couple available on free, knowing they wont be as good as other options, but betting we can get enough out of some combo of Richarlison, Bernard and the Loanee.

50k basic and bonus based incentive style contract could work well for us.

Biggest problem (apart from him taking a big hit in wages) is I would imagine he would want to be a starter as well, he had no choice, or probably didn't mind being a squad player at City, I can't see him wanting to be that at the type of club who may come in for him, especially at his age as well.

So who’s place is he taking in our team out of interest?
Also the 17/18 season city and an injury crisis at left back, so I would imagine most of them games he played were at left back. And they had won the league so easy that year, that he probably got a few token starts at the end of season

Also this season mendy was out injured again. And city had a few injuries in midfield this season. He played 11 games in the league last season. I’m not sure how many he started.

He’s played 57 games in 4 years for a team who play 60 games a season. That’s nothing special and take away the injury crisis at left back, that probably leaves 37. Count league cup games, early rounds of the FA cup, dead rubbers in Europe. And he’s not starting many important games.

If city have a fully fit squad, he wouldn’t even make the bench.

I'm not sure who's place he's taking in the team. At the very least he's the 4th best midfielder in the squad

Last season Tom Davies and Schneiderlin got 20 starts between them. Delph is better than both of them.

Like I said previously, I wouldn't be buying him. But he's a quality player for anyone outside the Top 6. The fact he's lasted so long at City alludes to his quality as a player and a professional. Wages and age make him less than ideal and I think a longer term strategy around transfers is required, Even if that means the rebuilding process is a longer game.

Gana, Gomes and Sig aren't going to play every single game.

And the drop after them to Schneiderlin and Davies is so significant we are a completely different, inferior team when the 3 above are rested / injured.

Delph for £10-15m is a no brainer. To me, anyway.
The guy I was replying to said he would be starting fir us most weeks. No chance.

Is he any better than Schneiderlin, ok so they play slightly different roles. But there is nothing I’ve seen with Delph at city or fir England to get excited about. Average player at best.
