barkley isn't a holding mid at all, Chelsea use 3 CM's they have jorginho as the "holding mid" have kante and barkley/kovacic either side. to be more box to box
I'm telling you how he plays. Not how Sarri or anyone wants him to play. He doesn't run with the ball. He never dribbles by anyone. He doesn't contribute on defense.

Clearly not Zatmania.

Think 35m for both is expecting miracles, thats not to say 70m is any better like, but both are quality youngish players.
I don't understand why people think Chelsea's transfer ban would make the slightest difference to us getting Zouma?

They're going to have the exact same squad next year, a squad Zouma wasn't seen as good enough for. He's not going to go back there to sit on the bench, or not even make the bench when there are other clubs looking at him.

If anything it makes it easier for us to get him because at the end of the day he needs to play and they don't need him. It won't be cheap unless he puts in a transfer request but it was never going to be cheap regardless of circumstances.

People in this thread saying they wouldn't spend over £10m on him are living in a different time altogether. The likes of Solanke have gone for twice that with a tenth of the career appearances. Zouma is still quite young too.

Gomes, Zouma and a work permit for Onyekuru would be a great start to the summer and be great for stability in the long term.

For me;

Gomes -- He looked unplayable when he joined but since then has drifted somewhere between a massively inconsistent range of performances from below average to good. Barca dont want him, he wants to come to us -- I see it as similar to us wanting to punt some of our deadwood -- I'd bid £15mil and increase to £18mil then £20mil.

Zouma -- His profile is great and seems to suit everything we need. However hes an enigma to me. I cant decide if hes far better than anyone else in the team and covering their mistakes OR he loses concentration and then reacts. Totally undecided on him.

Onyekuru -- I think claims weve asked for £35mil from Bayern are fanciful but i do think he offers goals and direct pace which is going to be very different as a left sided option to Bernard.

Vlasic -- Highest rated player in Russia and still very young. I'd like to see him come back and make a central position his own. Hes the type of player who we could just sell now but becomes a superstar in a few years. For me just the type of player we would look to sign if we didnt already own him.

Truth be told im more excited about Vlasic and Onyekuru than Zouma and Gomes...

I'm watching replay of the Hoffenheim Leverkusen match and I'm continually impressed with Josh Brenet. He's typically a right back, but was playing left as an inverted back.

I'm also continually surprised at how good Belfodil is - interesting consider how we though he was a done deal to Everton.

Inverted back = verted forward...

Interesting lol

Zouma and Gomes are both decent and I'm happy we want to sign them permanently but the price needs to be right on both. Neither is so good that we can't find someone else to be just as good in those positions.

Chelsea can still sell, they just can't buy players, according to their website they have 41 players out on loan, I dont think they missed zouma this season. He's one I'm not that bothered about signing though
Spot on this, I have never known a club have so many players on loan as Chelsea do? It is mind blowing! Their total squad must be close to 100 players :(

Keep Gomes and build around him.

Not fussed about Zouma. This summer I think needs to be focused on shipping players out.
Tosun, Baines, Jagielka, McCarthy, Besic, Walcott
I’d like Holgate to be given a proper chance in the team, and Vlasic and Onyekoru would also make our squad more exciting.

People can throw out all the faux outrage they want, but basically this ^.

£70m for Zouma and Gomes sounds high, but I wouldn't be surprised at £30m for Gomes and £20m for Zouma, so it's not far off.
