If that is the case, why are we keeping the others around and giving them needless new contracts?
Davies will be seen as cover for Sigurdsson and Gomes, I think we may be trying to move Morgan on. Why would we not want to improve the squad for little outlay?

As we need a squad. By not having delph, we are 2 injuries away from Martina at left back. Yes he is an extra person, but if we get rid of the dross as we want to, then we have better cover than we do now.

Almost every team in the world would be two injuries away from having a player that isn’t great playing in a certain position.

Cover for Gomes - Schneiderlin
Cover for Gana - Davies
Cover for Digne - Baines

No need to add another clogger to the squad.

Well I think the point is we'll be hoping to move Schneiderlin, McCarthy and Besic out, and we'll have brought in one player (Delph) to cover what all three offered to the squad. Which seems a sensible approach.

He's not a clogger. I wasn't enthused with the signing at first but taking a step back it's a sensible one. He's not going to set the world alight but you don't play for City for four seasons if you're a clogger, especially not with three of those being in Pep's side.

I just don't trust Baines in the Prem anymore if I'm honest. He would be taken apart by most half decent wingers, just think Delph would be a better option

The thing with Delph is he's only ever played LB for City and very briefly in one or two games for England.

Playing LB for City is completely different than playing as LB for any other side because they're always on the front foot.
