...i’m a big fan of the lad, he’s a stand-out at U23 but it’s a massive step-up. It’s a position where a young player can learn so much playing alongside an experience professional, especially as CBs work in partnership. We need to remember Gibson has only played age restricted football.
And to be honest CB is arguably the hardest position for a teenager to play in. It is literally the one position you need experience in (reading of the game) but I agree Gibson does look a prospect. I’d really like him to go on loan this season preferably to a championship club to gain that experience and push for a start in the first team next season.

Would you be a fan of sending him on loan to a championship club with a veteran centre back, almost like a years apprenticeship.

...i’m not a fan of sending the best young players on loan. It can work, but history suggests Academy loanees rarely come back and become a success at Everton (Barkley and Osman). Most of our Academy loanees are surplus to requirements and tend to eventually move on.

I think the Manager will want to use the very best, and I don’t think it’s a good sign when they are sent elsewhere. Working with Silva and the rest of the squad, as well as occasional game time is the best indication they are highly rated.
