Proper official statement it seems so I'd assume yes it's off for good. But who on earth knows.

It says 'end of the matter' when in relation to the first bid, tbf.

I'd be very surprised - and tbh, massively disappointed - in Brands if he decided to randomly throw a bid in and then walk away when it got rejected. Utterly pointless.

why or why would we make that statement???

One of two reasons.

Firstly, the Echo may have complained about being fed false info and told the club to rectify their reputation, whilst Sky got the real story and went for it.

Or Sky genuinely made it up, it's completely false and, again, the club have released the statement to either protect the Echo OR to keep a lid on it whilst negotiations with Palace continue.

I can't see any other reason. We don't as a rule comment on transfers as a club - it's extremely rare we do.

Not making them up. My point was whether it an official statement and it is. I've never seen us publicly deny bids before. It's all very strange.

I assume this off which is fair enough. Better to move on 10 days out.

I know mate, it's strange.

Like I've said, if Brands has just randomly offered to smash our transfer record and then give in after one bid on a player that would definitely improve us, it's weird.
