So we did make a bid of £52m, which was rejected, which begs the question as to why we bid that little, knowing Arsenal were laughed at with their £40m bid. Crystal Palace are known to want £80m. Additionally, if the manager wants him, go get him. Who cares about maintaining a good relationship with Palace?

55m according to sky so no actual evidence how much it really was I don't think

Maintaining a good relationship is window dressing, I think we've leaked the 52 Million bid to make people shut up about lack of activity.

Sky went over the parapet and went a step to far, now it's perfect time for Everton to say 'it's the end of the matter, we tried but ultimately failed'.

My take on it.

Maybe brands doesn't log onto GOT and isnt bothered by a load of fans stressing on the internet so doesn't feel the need to rush through deals to "calm nerves". He has a job to do and knows how much he has to play with so is working on getting the best deals.

Or maybe he does log onto GOT and is panicking because our fans want him to just buy everyone regardless of cost and this statement is the start of him unravelling.
It's his manager's nerves he needs to calm.

The club have only said they’ve made a bid, not how much it was for, the media themselves couldn’t decide if it was £50m, £52m or £55m. The bid that Sky we’re claiming tonight would have made it closer, if not a bit more than what Palace wanted
