I think we are about breaking even on player trading to be honest, without looking into it in that much detail as yet, thats no bad thing in my opinion as the business is in a bit of a state.

Silva and Brands are doing well as the crow flies and the ball is still in play. Shifting lads as we know is vitally important.

They’ve done really well at squad size reduction. Just need another 5 I think.

We have left it too late to deal with Palace over Zaha.
How long do they have then to get a replacement?

I have a sneaky feeling they would be happy spending the Wan Bissaka money and pocketing the Zaha fee incase they went down.

If talks were ongoing, Palace would likely have a replacement ready to be signed should they give the go ahead on Zaha to be sold.

...good point.

Kean will take us up there and if all beleived if we go for a winger, centre back and RB we should be in the red net. Then we will see what we can shift.

What i really like just speaking my mind informally, about our transfers this window and last is the investments, essentially to a large degree it doesnt matter what players cost as long as you can shift them for more if required.

I look at all our signings as investments that are appreciating, thats good work by Silva and Brands. We can see the cost of it going the opposite way with some of our deadwood, we might have to loose a player or two (Idrissa) to mitigate that, but the profile of player trading looks good with better investments. Fair play to Silva and Brands.

I think we need three myself, in the positions mentioned, we dont want huge turnover, there is a lot to be said for continuity and the work bedding in the philosophy last season.. Squad is still to big and needs to be reduced, if we can. I agree though i like what we are doing, fair play to Silva and Brands.

Henry O, Martina, Besic - there’s 3 and that’ll have zero impact on the squad. I’d like to get rid of Kev & Schneiderlin too just because I feel they are disruptive influences.

So that’s 5 out with only one having a real impact from last seasons squad.

We could do with loosing another 7-8 in my opinion, but i think we would be lucky. Bolaise, Mirallas, Morgan, Besic, Henry, Maritna, Niasse, Pennington etc. Doing a cost/contribution analysis they are dead weight, though id be dissapointed to see McCarthy leave.

Then you look at soft positions, Walcott, Morgan and Tosun if the right deal could be done player trading, you would be open minded.

Bolasie has to be included in that list.

8-10 out

3 in

That would be quite remarkable

No way both Schneiderlin and McCarthy both move. Don't think McCarthy is in any plans but Schneiderlin is a first team player - cant see any temptation to sell at all.

Shifting £100k+ / wk from the wage bill is more than enough temptation when it’s going to someone who is going to be a back up player

It’s crazy that all those players could be shifted, I doubt there would be too many of us angry if we sold any one of them. Walcott maybe, but that’s more because of lack of cover in that pos. maybe one of Besic/Morgan/McCarthy too.
