We've been saying the same thing about Davies since he chipped a goal in vs City. If Davies is starting games - were not competing for the top 6, were competing with Leicester/West Ham etc.

Hes that rare thing though an academy graduate, who contributes at a PL level, with head room and potential to improve hes probably 6 years of his peak, players like that are a gold mine and save and make the club millions.

2 injuries....

And it means we're short in central midfield. And it isn't even injuries to midfielders, an injury in our back 4 could mean a reshuffle and leave us short.

I'M happy to wager that both Schneiderlin and McCarthy won't be sold. Its illogical.

2 injuries to any position would leave us struggling. It’s actually in centre midfield we’d feel it less.

Id have high hopes for young Tom. hes one of those its dangerous to make a cast iron judgement on so young. I think everyone sees the potential in the lad at this level.

Ideally a loan to another prem team would be awesome , if not too championship team

As it stands;

Mina/Coleman injury means JPG fills in at centre back. And we've got Gomes, Davies and Delph to pick from and no defensive mids. Oh and god forbid a JPG injury.

Right now, as was last year - Schneiderlin is our second choice defensive mid and a first team player. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts next week.

And good luck to him. Wouldn't be starting games at any other premier league club bar a couple and he has shown nothing to convince anyone that he can nail down a spot.

Good luck to him. Hope he comes good. But it is a way to risky, to be hedging bets on Davies to be a second choice defensive mid.

I’ve always been impressed when I’ve seen him playing for England u-21s. Different level obviously but there’s certainly a player there.

Correct; because like last year we have Schneiderlin to lean one.

Again: may be sold in January or next summer but I'd wager that at this stage he stays.

I tend to agree, we forget how young he is really, we expect a lot of him but hes still learning his trade. Full tilt and at his best performence in the PL he is a good player, consistency in that level is the next step for Tom.

You don’t think we’ll buy another centre back? Plus holgate is likely to be our current 3rd choice centre back as things stand

See this is part of the problem, everyone wants to develop young players, but no body wants to be patient with them or give them opportunities when they are developing.

If you want that philosophy you have to commit to it in my opinion.

That would be my approach to it anyway.

I bloody oaf think we do. But for the same reason Jags was playing last season; it's inevitable that well need 4 centre halves.

I'm not convinced we've shown much interest in a right back either, meaning Holgate is back up.

Just think you need 5 midfielders to get through a season. There's two spots (three if Sigurdsson isn't injured); JPG, Gomes, Davies, Delph and Schneiderlin.

Can see McCarthy leaving.

Reasons why we wouldn't sell Schneiderlin just outweigh the reasons why we would sell.

No - because we have plenty of other options there.

I don’t really get your love for Schneiderlen.
Do you think he’s worth the £100k+ a week he’s getting?
Do you think he’ll start before Delph, Gomes or Gbamin?
He’s a back up player plain and simple (probably a back up to a back up) and we’re not in a position where any of our back up players should be on that much.
