He could have been 8th choice it still woudlnt have mattered because cuco Martina isn't a professional footballer. He is woeful. Should have played any kid from any youth level over that joker

The answer is probably career path. For any young player to get a chance at City they need to be exceptional. If you look at the second eleven that City could field it would probably be in the top eight in the Premiership.
I doubt that players like DCL, Davies, Lookman or Kenny would have gotten within shouting distance of first team football whereas at Everton they get the opportunity to play and build a career and if they are good enough then in time a money bags club like City comes calling.

There is also the scenario alot of kids are begining to take.................traeting City like a sort of "football school"
They have the best of the best, best coaches, best acadamy, best competiotions etc etc
They go to city at whatever age...............spend a 6-8 years at the acadamy and then when a) at 16 when its time to sign a YTS deal or b) at 18 when its time to sign a pro deal....................you just bin them off for someone who might give you a better opportunity of playing forst team football,
Bobby Duncan at Liverpool did it recently, as to a certain extent so did Sancho

Its as if you get to a certain age....graduate then you have your pick of clubs to go to. You are never going to be short of offers as the "he is from citys acadamy" label will be on them.
We did it with Ellis Simms when he didnt sign a YTS with them

I like him. He has that ability to see space and drive into it from midfield. We've missed that from a lot if our sideways passing playmakers.
 
I want Brands to be told the transfer strategy is as follows:
  1. Initial 20m provided by the Club
  2. 100% of money generated from sales
  3. Total squad size must be reduced by 25%
  4. Overall wage bill must be reduced
  5. Average age of squad must be reduced (encourage him to get rid of Jagielka, Stekelenberg, et al)
