Thiago Maia is a player Ive always wanted tyo see us linked with, so under-rated. One that could go under the radar, but he is a en excellent player.
I think there's a reason he's not playing a lot this year, honestly. Lille were pretty bad last year and he played a TON. They likely only kept him because he was such an expensive transfer for them and would probably still want to recoup the money. He's still only 22, but not sure he's the answer.

I think this is a difficult question to answer as it's something of a false equivalency.

I would not want to start the season with the above, for a starting point I'd imagine we keep Schneiderlin. He's been very solid for us this year and we haven't conceded in the 4 games he's started.

My preference would be to move Gana on (for a variety of reasons) though I appreciate this is far from a straightforward decision. I would then want a physical presence next to come in and play in time next to Gomes. That is my preference.

I think signing a further 2 midfield players to play in that position would be wasteful and we ned up like 2 summers ago where we would have a multitude of players in a certain position (at that stage the 10 spot).

If /when we lose gana we will be a significantly weaker team - it will be very very very hard for us to get a replacement with his work rate and capacity to break up attacks.

Is any player at Everton that important? He is good for us because we've been poor in midfield, which we've needed his work ethic. In an ideal scenario, we'll sort the balance to our team (I think Silva is already doing this with the high pressing we now do). There are potentially 8 or 9 teams who will finish above us who don't have that type of player, so we can adapt.

Yes. Honestly, yes. I think he's that important.

We need two more DMs/CMs beyond Gana. We lose him we don't have a single capable DM and in the past, Silva would prefer to play 2.

Every team in the World plays a player like Gana.

More money, better reputation, maybe better scouts... why’s it unbelievable a kid would sign for City over us?
The answer is probably career path. For any young player to get a chance at City they need to be exceptional. If you look at the second eleven that City could field it would probably be in the top eight in the Premiership.
I doubt that players like DCL, Davies, Lookman or Kenny would have gotten within shouting distance of first team football whereas at Everton they get the opportunity to play and build a career and if they are good enough then in time a money bags club like City comes calling.

Yeh, true, but doesn’t really make it so shocking some kids don’t turn it down. Playing for City is a great platform even if you don’t make it.
