That's ok if you know what your doing ie Spurs and the RS, but Walsh and RK clearly did'nt have a clue and it nearly killed us.

Spurs and the RS bought players to fit a specific system, which has worked. We just went “ah right we’ve lost Lukaku’s 25 goals, well Sigurdsson 10 + Klaassen 10 + Rooney 10 and would you look at that, we’ve spread those goals around!!!”

The perils of the spreadsheet.

He's not as good as Gylfi, Jota, Fraser, Anderson, Deulofeu, Maddison or Zaha. That's half right there. And don't disrespect Pienaar with this comparison. Steven produced in the penalty area.
Ok, hold up.

First of all, statistically speaking, Bernard creates more chance in open play per 90 minutes than anyone on Everton. He also is 2nd in the team in Key Passes and successful dribbles per game without having disproportionate numbers in terms of being dispossessed and/or poor touches.

Second of all, he actually compares favorably with many of the players you listed. He just hasn't played the same number of minutes. He also isn't taking free kicks.

Per 90 minutes:
58453

Total:
58454

Everton bought a player based solely off a spreadsheet under Koeman and Walsh. Didn’t watch him play a full game, just stats and highlight clips via the software that everyone has.

Not hard to guess who.

Of course you would, because numbers. That’s what Walshy and the Hamburglar did, bought people based on numbers.
Can we just stop this silliness? There are bad numbers and good numbers. This idea that numbers don't tell you SOME objective reality is just stupid. They aren't the end all be all, but it does give some level of objectivity to performance, but you HAVE to use comparable numbers. ALL CLUBS USE NUMBERS. Both to measure current performance AND to attempt to efficiently identify players that can help them. So anyone decrying numbers just because they think they are BAD, is just ignorant. And anyone that thinks they can just tell these things by watching the game and that it's better than the numbers, is also KIDDING themselves if the pure observations are even good enough for the best managers and professionals running these clubs.

When you account for the fact that a lot of his chances created are low quality it looks worse. Second that ignores that all of those players bar Fraser scored goals too and Fraser was a far better creator. Third I'm not really suggesting we should sign any of those just thatthey arent that much better or worse so we need to do better if we want to move up.

And NO ONE who has ever had any level of analytical expertise would EVER recommend doing that.
