Anyone else think we might not be not signing a 'traditional' out and out striker, a number 9 or whatever you want to call them?

There doesn't seem to be many credible links so far for that type of player, and being honest (not that i'm an encyclopedia) i can't think of that many we can easily get, who would be of sufficient quality to push us into the top 6 guaranteed.

Strikes me the likes of Neres, Malcolm, Traore, all seem to be predominantly Right Wing Forwards but can also play through the middle.

Are we gonna see Richarlison given another go down the middle if we can get a right winger that suits Silva's template.

Possibly rotating to play through the middle on occasion and Richarlison on the right?

I'm not saying i necessarily agree with the above, however, there is a team not so far away that has 'decent' success playing an interchangeable front 3 without an orthodox 9.
I agree with most of that
Ricarlison has done well at CF and it’s where he plays for Brazil
He may want a regular starting place with us at CF to cement his place in the Brazil squad

Silva and Brands fought hard to keep Lookman last year when it looked for the world he was off.

Got the sense this time though that Silva became more frustrated with him so may not fight as hard this time around.

Plus can anyone see Lookman signing a new deal here? Highly unlikely so now is the time to sell before he has only a year left next summer.

Saying all 4 won’t deliver goals when no more than 2 should be on the pitch at once, I thought that was odd. None of them play in positions that need to deliver goals. A link in the chain yes, but it’s not their primary objective.

If they are very good at their main roles, job done for them. Gana shields the back 4, tackles & intercepts to win possession back & move play the other way. Gomes controls the play & provides some physicality, Schneiderlin is somewhere in between those 2 but not as good as either. Sosa would be a long term project so not really relevant at this stage.

The majority of goals need to come from a new striker, advanced mids & wingers. Anyone else that can pop up with something every now & then is a bonus
This might be a bit late but I think the use of the word nonce is what got lads backs up
Uncalled for in my opinion

Forget about bringing in established players for a while

Next few seasons will be a cost cutting excersise, the esk estimates 80m losses for 18/19.

I agree with him to be honest, albeit i make it slightly less but only slightly, i posted similar figures on here weeks ago, we are going to make a record loss this year.

Yep.. I scouted transfermrkt last night for wingers (COD of the links) and saw Neres, Under and Lozano all valued pretty much around each other... stats wise Lozano is way way ahead of the other two. Unless Brands has some agreement not to take from his old club we should be doing everything we can to land him.
PSV will have no qualms about selling to us or any other club if the price is right
It’s what Dutch clubs do
