They are just about to sign a winger & already have Redmond
Think he was played more centrally when their manager had him at red bull.
They are just about to sign a winger & already have Redmond
Who they signing?
I agree with most of thatAnyone else think we might not be not signing a 'traditional' out and out striker, a number 9 or whatever you want to call them?
There doesn't seem to be many credible links so far for that type of player, and being honest (not that i'm an encyclopedia) i can't think of that many we can easily get, who would be of sufficient quality to push us into the top 6 guaranteed.
Strikes me the likes of Neres, Malcolm, Traore, all seem to be predominantly Right Wing Forwards but can also play through the middle.
Are we gonna see Richarlison given another go down the middle if we can get a right winger that suits Silva's template.
Possibly rotating to play through the middle on occasion and Richarlison on the right?
I'm not saying i necessarily agree with the above, however, there is a team not so far away that has 'decent' success playing an interchangeable front 3 without an orthodox 9.
Don't remind me! Even he wasn't regarded as an under 23 player at that point though. If you look closely , in the distance you will see Luke Garbutt waving a 30k pay cheque at you
DAMMIT
That’s why teams have wingers and strikers....Reid and Bracewell didn’t score many goals from the ‘middle’.
This might be a bit late but I think the use of the word nonce is what got lads backs upSaying all 4 won’t deliver goals when no more than 2 should be on the pitch at once, I thought that was odd. None of them play in positions that need to deliver goals. A link in the chain yes, but it’s not their primary objective.
If they are very good at their main roles, job done for them. Gana shields the back 4, tackles & intercepts to win possession back & move play the other way. Gomes controls the play & provides some physicality, Schneiderlin is somewhere in between those 2 but not as good as either. Sosa would be a long term project so not really relevant at this stage.
The majority of goals need to come from a new striker, advanced mids & wingers. Anyone else that can pop up with something every now & then is a bonus
Forget about bringing in established players for a while
Next few seasons will be a cost cutting excersise, the esk estimates 80m losses for 18/19.
PSV will have no qualms about selling to us or any other club if the price is rightYep.. I scouted transfermrkt last night for wingers (COD of the links) and saw Neres, Under and Lozano all valued pretty much around each other... stats wise Lozano is way way ahead of the other two. Unless Brands has some agreement not to take from his old club we should be doing everything we can to land him.
The Southampton manager was the one who had him at Leipzig. It's not totally unexpected if this happens
Jimmy hill was on motd? I don’t think so mate.
Also yes... the internet was around when the blukipper website was running funnily enough
Why would we sell a player that we would find extremely difficult to replaceIf the money hits 30m selling Gana makes sense but he was basically the entirety of our midfield without possession so replacing him would become priority number one for the summer. It wouldn't be easy to do.
Name me one player who we could get for 30 m who is as good as GanaMate don't get carried away with him, he's replaceable and 30mill is a great deal.
