....it’s Saturday, it’s the 20th July and here’s this morning Toffee transfer rumours:

- According to GloboeSport, Everton are interested in signing 17 year old Reinier from Flamengo and have met with the Brazilian club directors, Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel to discuss a €40m move. The Liverpool Echo suggest this rumour is false.

- L’Equipe say PSG has stepped up their pursuit of Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye and the club’s are close to agreeing a €35m transfer for the Senegal international.

- The Liverpool Echo reckon Frank Lampard has been very impressed with Kurt Zouma and wants him to stay at Chelsea despite interest from Everton. The Express quote Lampard as saying: “Kurt is a very good defender, a very good player, a professional and I want to keep him here, simple as that.”

- The London Evening Standard and various other outlets, report Everton are ready to rival Arsenal for Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha. The Liverpool Echo says Everton are not interested in the 26 year old Ivory Coast international.

- SkySports suggest Everton has received a firm bid of £8m from Crystal Palace for midfielder James McCarthy. The Irish Independent point out that the 28 year old has played just 16mins of first team football since he had a double leg fracture in January 2018.

- Forza Italian Football say Everton and Arsenal continue to track Juventus striker, Moise Kean. Sky Sports Italia suggest the 19 year old could join Everton and mention Barcelona have also enquired.

- Lille Director of Football, Marc Ingla, has talked to Top Mercato regarding Everton and Aston Villa target, Rafael Leao: “For Leao, there is a lot of interest, I cannot say anymore, sorry”. The Liverpool Echo believes Everton hold no interest in the 20 year old.

- Many of yesterday’s rumours are repeated; Lookman moving to RB Leipzig for £22.5m; Everton interest in Lyon’s 22 year old midfielder, Lucas Tousart; and Everton dismissing a loan bid from Galatasaray for Henry Onyekuru.

- Mundo Deportivo report Real Sociedad remain calm over Everton links with centre back, Diego Llorente this summer. They firmly believe they can keep hold of the 25 year old due to his €50m release clause. Meanwhile, Torino have put an end to transfer speculation by confirming Everton and Arsenal target, Armando Izzo, has signed a new 5 year contract.

- According to The Mirror, Everton and Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder, Blaise Matuidi. The 32 year old French midfielder is valued at £20m.

Thanks Eggs.

To be fair, it's not like many of the top premier league clubs have spent much yet.

Zouma is a disappointment and knocks Silvas plans - with Jags gone that leaves us with two senior CBs. With Gueye gone we definitely need somebody like him. So until that is all resolved we are weaker than last season.

Zaha seems a strange one, maybe Usmanov wants to annoy Kroenke - or his agent just wants to push the price up/

I'm looking forward to seeing what Brands is up to, on his trip. I'm sure this time next week, things will all be a bit brighter. Panic is really starting to set in with everyone now.

The echo pi$$ing on bonfires all over the show

Just had a different way of thinking to these buy and sell things. I don’t think that cash is the problem.. FFP and the P&L is. So every sale doesn’t generate the selling price, it’s about the profit that the sale generates, and leveraging this to buy a player. Admittedly this is a one year gap and we would need to be able to generate similar profits in year two to be sustainable.

So selling Lookman for close to a £20m profit generates enough to buy Zaha for £80m over 4 years. We would need to cover his £20m amortisation in year two somehow.. not saying we should work like this but that is how it can be done if we want to take a punt now. The Maccie profit will help, Besic hopefully too.. they all add up to cover an annual amortisation charge...

So what I’m saying is I think we can afford Zaha or AN Other without having to generate the same in player sales... we just need to cover the annual amortisation.

But if we “just” need to cover the annual amortisation then we already need to find £20m next year and that’s before we even think about strengthening further. We can’t afford him as far as I’m concerned.

Definitely not... firstly I think he has got back to his best under Silva.. and is a very decent backup when needed.. one of the few quality players that can step in over a few games .. he was a big player in our run in when Gomes was banned.

Agreed but he is on his very last chance for me, if he so much downs tools for 15min this season then i want him out

Players culled so far: 11
Williams(OOC), Jagielka(OOC), JJK(Loan), Vlasic(Sale), Sandro(Loan), Galloway(Free), Virginia(Loan), Dowell(Loan), Garbutt(Loan), Tarashaji(Loan), Robinson(Sale),

Players purchased so far: 3
Lossl, Gomes, Delph

Lossl Free
Gomes 22m
Delph 8m

Vlasic 14m
Robinson 2m

Thats pretty much it atm.
I can understand people wanting everything done already, or at least lot more, but in reality our level of business is similar or better than most clubs in the league.

Over the next couple of weeks, I would expect arrivals and departures to accelerate and it's only right that our dealings are kept confidential.

Ya it’s risky no doubt... I think they probably have taken into account the future tv deals as well.. so as said yep we would have to find year two profits again to cover it.. I definitely think this is what clubs do now and then and probably why we spent more recently than we thought. It can catch up to you so needs to be done carefully and not all eggs in one basket either.

Personally I wouldn’t spend close to this in one player and would rather spread that over two players else it is all or nothing.. too much risk .. but over a couple players the risk might be considered manageable.
