Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye's £30 million move to Paris Saint-Germain is set to go through after he passed a medical with the French champions.

Gueye spent Monday in Paris after a fee was agreed, Everton permitting the 29 year-old to complete the transfer. A deal could be announced on Tuesday.

The midfielder has wanted the switch since PSG first bid last January. Now Everton are resigned to his departure.

Gueye was not scheduled to return to training at Goodison Park until next week due to his international commitments with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. He was granted extra time off. However, there is now an acceptance he will not play for Everton again.

Gueye joined Everton in 2016 after a season with Aston Villa, having previously been at Lille. He has made 99 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals.

PSG made an unsuccessful move for Gueye in January, a bid worth £26m lodged. Everton wanted in excess of £30m for the midfielder at that time.
Gueye told Everton he wanted to leave midway through last season but was commended for his professionalism when told he had to stay.
Last weekend, manager Marco Silva admitted he was uncertain of Gueye’s future.

“Of course, we don't know what will happen with Gana and there is a lot of speculation but let's see what will happen in the next few days,” he said.
“We as a club, we hope to keep him because he is a really important player for us but the market is open and like we are trying to buy some players, some clubs can be interested in our players also.”

Silva has indicated he would like as many as five new additions over the next two weeks which could make for a frantic end to the transfer window.

For Silva to secure so many deals he will have to spread his resources accordingly, although the sale of Ademola Lookman and imminent departure of Gueye will raise funds.

One of the more curious transfer stories is that of Everton’s move for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha. Although it is suggested Everton have had a bid of £55m rejected, and also offered Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy as part of a second bid, Goodison sources are refuting this, insisting no such offer was made. There is clearly interest in the player, however.

A club statement confirmed an earlier offer for Zaha, but said there was no follow-up interest. "Everton Football Club categorically denies that a bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha that included an increased sum plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy.

Everton and Crystal Palace have a very good relationship. A bid was made over the weekend which was turned down. Both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter."

Zaha has the quality Everton need but Palace’s valuation would absorb most of Silva's kitty. Zaha has also indicated he wants to move to Arsenal, who targeted him earlier in the transfer window.

Everton’s interest offers an alternative if Zaha is intent on leaving Palace for a club aspiring to qualify for European competition in 2020. Everton have a list of targets as they seek to strengthen Silva's squad, but also want to move on those who are surplus to requirements.

I think it’s more what most have known for the last year, the club have closed ranks on any deals getting leaked by the media

Apart from Delph, Lossl and oh yeah Gomes being all in the media and sky sports way before being announced....

Actually sky sports broke our interest in Delph way before anyone else.

Very strange this whole window.

God knows whats going on at Everton - I get the feeling the club is scrambling around for targets with no plan.

Hopefully it isn't a tolly dash, over the next few days. Window dressing aside there is little action.

Right now we need a man of action making transfers.
