Unless the league/FIFA decide to ban him I dont see any reason from a club stand point to avoid him when he's never been convicted in the courts.

Clearly he was guilty of what was alleged & you can see why some fans wouldn't want him at their club as what he did was a scumbag thing... but I do think at 19/20 you can argue he deserves a 2nd chance to try turn his life around.

Sadly you'll see more of this sort of thing as football becomes more and more ludicrous in the huge wages these young immature lads are being paid and the power/fame that comes with it.

Too much too soon.
Mate, you need help.

Of course not

Alonso didn't target the girl to kill her, his crime was drunk driving and the worst result happened, but he was twice the limit, conditions were poor and got a ban and fine. Barton got into fights like many other footballers over the years, and did 6mths for it right?

The attitude portrayed by Greenwood and the message it sends to young kids, both boys & girls, that because he's a priviliged, rich baller he can do what he wants without consequence is a very bad look for any club. I don't recall hearing any remorse from him, just moaning, but i may have missed something.

So no, not a life sentence, but consequences of some sort certainly... what you suggest is giving him a pass coz he's 20yrs old and a baller.

It's why Utd won't bring him back in, his teamates don't want him, and why we shouldn't even entertain the idea

If it was your daughter that lost her life because Mr Alonso decided to get behind the wheel of a car drunk and drove over the speed limit I doubt you would be saying that he didn't take her life regardless of the fact he didn't pre-meditate what happened mate.

I feel modern football fans by large have become hypocritical when it comes to morals concerning the sport. Some will scoff at seeing Greenwood play football again but will happily watch a league thats awash with middle eastern blood money & tuned in / travelled to watch a world cup that was built by slaves.

Even your average football club owner have become criminal's - Notts Forest's owner is linked with drug trafficking, ours involved with dodgy russian money, that 777 group implicated in all kinds of shenanigans and then you have the Saudi's, UAE, Qatari's etc.

If I had my way the likes of Greenwood/Alonso would be behind bars to serve time, gangsters and murderers banned from owning clubs but FB92 doesn't make the rules.

Magnificent idea mate while we're at we can bring Adam Johnson out of retirement too , not sure where he's at these days but if you search near a school's prom just matter of time before we can recruit him too. Mason greenwood seems like an inevitable new castle signing also he has not to my knowledge exhibited any regret over his actions when actually apologized over breaking covid protocol because he faced accountability.
Oh since this is the transfer thread let's sign players not involved sex crime trials
